I'm here because the MMO market is trash and this is the lesser of evils.
There is truth to that...like amazon just announced its expansion for new world and just at first glance content wise is barren for the pricepoint and people say our expansions look light like god damn...New world looks to be competing with ESO in terms of player count and content style which fair play to them...I do wish New World went to console it would spring some more life into it. Blue Protocol next year but that game is in a rough patch...7-9 years of dev and there is barely any glamour in the base game that isn't locked by gacha...basic combat and barely an endgame. Ashes of creation not even at Alpha 2 and while promising will only cater to a niche player type so won't really change or challenge the market. It really is like runescape, wow and 14 that are propping up this genre and elements of complacency is occurring and to be fair I can't blame them....nothing is out there to challenge their crowns....so they just do what they want.
Rather than the bans following the specific poster you are referring to I suspect it is something a little different. We have a new moderator and they seem to be trying to clean things up. I would not be surprised if they have their own watch list of people they saw engaging with the recently banned(1st wave of bans) and are spot checking to see if any new garbage has broken out.Honesty can hurt some people, so of course they got banned, it's a temp ban, but still, people are very snowflake-y on this forum, I'm not surprised they got the hammer, weirdly enough bans seem to happen a lot when words are agaisnt a certain poster that I wont name (and of course he's in this thread) so I guess I'll just stop interacting with them entirely.
As for the poster you mention bans happening around. I have actually known him for nearly a decade and known of him longer than that. His forum persona doesn't change. For years I thought he was the biggest jerk on the WoW forums. Then circumstances threw us together in WoW and I somehow got under his at that time very hard defense shield (his wife had just passed). He actually can be a very kind, generous and funny soul. Not many get to see that side of him. No I am not the one that made the report. Vel can defend himself just fine. He doesn't need me to do it.
I didnt mean Vel but thank you for the explainations lolRather than the bans following the specific poster you are referring to I suspect it is something a little different. I enjoy both, though that enjoyment tends to alternate depending on the patch schedule and/or whether or not I'm enjoying the content being provided to me. Both games have things that they do better than the other.
I just drift between WoW, ESO and FFXIV at this point. I get different things from each game. It'll probably be a while until something genuinely fresh enters the market and makes me fully commit to it but I'm a patient guy. I think it'll happen eventually.
I get my cravings for exploration sated by WoW and ESO. For housing, ESO and FFXIV. For playable races with deep stories to tap into for roleplay? ESO and WoW.
It remains to be seen if FFXIV manages to course correct to my liking or not. If nothing else, I'm hoping that 7.0 is closer to Stormblood in terms of side content offerings.
