I've spoken to people who were around for older moonfire events and they all told me that they were able to get older moonfire items there in the past at those moonfire events but after a certain point that tradition ended. Maybe someone else can confirm this too? I wasn't around for it.
In any case, yeah, I agree. I think most people would agree unless they were collecting a commission or something. Remember last christmas, when getting a simple xmas tree for your interior meant either paying a hoarder 10 million gil or handing square 5 dollars because the 2023 xmas event simply lacked an indoor tree and refused to give players a way to obtain one via the christmas event? Loads of people were bummed about that, but none of it mattered because at the end of the day players bought the tree on the mogstation and SE used that money to fund graha eating a taco or a forespoken ad or something.
Sadly this common sense approach gets drowned out by thousands of people with disposable income who don't care how it's spent or what kind of business tactics they're encouraging because "it's just three dollars" and "I really want the tree/shirt/etc." and hell even I've done it so I'm not trying to be too hard on people. But it just is what it is. Every sale encourages this mindset and pushes the envelope further. I don't like where it's going because it reminds me of lots of really scummy f2p titles but also with a sub/expansion, but nobody else seems to care so here we are.
