Best part of the event is having Rival Wing alive. The actual thing was just another a few dialogues with no gameplay involved. Just how the previous events are sadly.

I agree that RW is the best part. But I like the Rising storylines, they always feel special to me. The letters from the devs this year were also pretty neat and the moogle minigame is cute!

Edit: The mount sucks, because it's a "transformation" aka they couldnt make your char on it work and so pretend like it's supposed to be your char transforming

2018 was the Rising event with the instanced Ul'dah where you had to run around killing enemies like it was the end of 1.23, yeah? That was definitely my favorite Rising event so far, followed by the one with the instance where we could run around and speak with the developers on the Eighteenth Floor. (Still waiting for that Doomtrain minion, guys!)

the second set of quests for the Rising event (the one with the writer researching for Louisoix's biography), was actually also SE's way of finally putting requests to bring 1.0 back as a 'FFXIV Classic' game to rest, by instead summarising the events of 1.0's Seventh Umbral Era storyline through this quest line (and further reinforced by the reward for it being the 'End of an Era' portrait theme for Adventurer Plates).

So for those still holding out hope that Yoshi may one day bring 1.0 back in some form... sorry guys, looks like that airship has now sailed.

Well, we did sort of eventually get a Doomtrain minion.... kinda.

While I appreciate and love the Bantam Train and agree that it fills a similar spot a Doomtrain minion would occupy, I still feel it is more inspired by the Final Fantasy VI Phantom Train rather than the Final Fantay VIII Doomtrain/Glasya Labolas. I acknowledge my pickiness in this matter but still would love to see an actual Doomtrain-based minion.

I'm doing praetorium so I can alt tab do other things during the cutscenes.
If you really wanted to, you could be doing pandaemonium for the event tomes, no one is making you do praetorium.

At least it makes sense that you say ffxiv is worth the sub, but wow isnt, because you dont want to play the game, you just want to be tabbed out, WoW actually requites you to play the game

Man, I bet you some of that majority aren't even happy about it. But you know, those same people will defend the game at all costs, so they'll just smile and bear it.

Pretty much, these people are ruining the game tbh, that's also the reason why this game is doomed, as long as these people are playing it wont ever change, and they wont ever leave in all honesty.

Thats why i feel people are happy with how the game is so they can do other things while not playing and occasionally play when they need to press something. I would rather have a game that actively has you think and play rather then being able to do stuff outside of the game while spamming praetorium during events like the moogle times and not have to pay attention. At that point square should just make praetorium a solo instance that just plays 20 minutes of cutscenes with no combat.

Yeah you sure as hell need a mental break from those "very hard" dungeons lmao, also I play both games, FFXIV for the social/housing, and WoW for content, so there is no "sunk cost" or whatever you are implying, I enjoy both for different reasons.

I don't really consider any dungeon to be so mentally draining that i need to spam praetorium which plays more like a visual novel to take a mental break or not actively play the game. If i felt mentally drained and didn't feel up to doing dungeons or anything at all i would play other games or not play anything at all. For me personally the only thing that drains me is savage raids and being in statics.
