exactly what im thinking, they said soon after E3. which generally we all can agree on is about maybe 2-3 weeks range( all perosnal ideas and timeline of the word soon put aside.)
even when they say the time for a patch. to me early in the month is the first week, mid month is secondweek , late in the month is third week and end of the month is last week. not this bull shit were the 15th is early! i along with many others would hate for it to be released with 1.23 since thier patches are always delayed! and thats a ways off.

Everyone in my LS expects it at the earliest after 1.23, though more towards august since that's when the marketing campaign is supposed to happen. Which with game company terms, I do consider that soon.
If the trailer shows any of the 7th Umbral Event, then it cannot be released until after 1.23 when all the stuff starts happening. That's how I try to look at it anyways.
Clearly the trailer has Dalamud, Odin and some other interesting stuff relating to things that are likely to happen in or around 1.23.
Even then they could have non-spoiler related trailers, like showing off Character Creations..the improved (but WIP) systems like for crafting and gathering and so on.
Hell they could even have screencaps like they used to do with expansion sites like:
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/pro.../tavnazia.html
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/pro...d/riverne.html
So I don't think it need to immediately coincide with 7th umbral era events, since they can easily show off "spoiler" stuff without giving away anything, since the landmass will greatly change due to it sure...but they can still show places off since it's not like people who aren't playing XIV will know what's going on and exactly why the world is different now since for all they know SE could have just simply redesigned the world.
I have, however they stated that the website itself would go up soon after E3..going up in August isn't "soon after" or "very soon" from last week's letter. The push for 2.0 is set to begin in August, this is true but the initial website was supposed to go up prior to it. That's when they were releasing the trailer and marketing push (August.)

no one would show any interests in 1.23 then!
"ah who cares about 1.23.. i saw that freaking awesome 2.0. gameplay trailers. i want to play that.. i will close my account till then."
or what the hell fucking else.
its the time schedule, that they start with the campaign after 1.23. and so it will be..
its boring for us, but i can understand this move.
well its your interpretation. soon for me can also mean 1-2 months.I have, however they stated that the website itself would go up soon after E3..going up in August isn't "soon after" or "very soon" from last week's letter. every patch was almost within the time schedule so i dont think that the campaign will differ from that anyways. and what does a homepage bring anything for you, if it does not contain any new gameplay footage.. good there is a homepage named "Final Fantasy 14 2.0." woohoo... doesnt bring me anything-
i also want to see more new things from 2.0. but on the other side i accepted that fact that they will start it in august.
and on the other side there is a long time also between august and the final release of 2.0. in early of 2013 so there is really no need for starting the campaign now!.

I don't know a single person in-game that would do that.
Not one.
And if that was the case you would have seen mass quitting after the 2.0 screenshots came out, when in fact it appears to me (at least on my server) that there's more people than ever.

I also assumed it would take a bit of time, but that's only because this is SE we're talking about.
I'm just sad we're, again, discussing the definition of a term related to time, when SE could easily step forward and tell us exactly when this "soon" is.
SE tells us when soon is:
People go: WTF SE Y U TAKE SOOO LONG!!!! ARGHGHGHGHG!!
SE just says soon to us with no set date or anything:
People go: WTF SE Y U NO TELL US WHAT SOON MEANS ARGHHHGHGHG!!!
Best if SE doesn't say anything at all.. seriously... ~.~

People will complain regardless, but leaving things up in the air only makes it worse.
