Yoshi-P will never let the store be a function in game. It's designed intentionally to be this way so players have more chances to ask "Should I really be buying this digital good?". If Yoshi-P wanted the store to be more accessible and promoted then we would have a store button in-game and in-game advertisements placed around to promote the items on sale.

Prices are high as those that do bother to go to the store are clearly willing to pay those prices.

People always seem to build parasocial relationships with developers or treat certain developers as celebrities or as there close friends when in reality they care more about our money just as much as the corporation does. The same thing happens with streamers where people act like streamers are there friends.
