FFXIV cash shop in a nutshell

Some dude on Reddit made a post today saying they hope FFXIV never goes Free to Play, because "Every paid MMO who turns to free to play, the game has become completely plagued with bots, rtm, poor audience and toxicity, and it opens up to predatory microtransactional behavior in shops and mechanics."

I sort of get what they mean, but at the same time I'm like... bruh, we already have all those things.

That post was probably in response to the latest news where Yoshi-P debunks rumors of the game going free to play sometime soon because I guess the rumors are spreading out way to frequently.

I have a feeling that you are correct, citizen. Square Enix will always choose to say things that the fans want to hear like how all proceeds from the cash shop go back into the game... It is up to the citizens of Eorzea to not fall for obvious PR statements.

I'm all for going against the grain but I never understood the "Take the road less traveled" saying...
