    Ranting a bit on this savage tier

    I just cleared P11S for the 7th week in a row and despite rolling on all 4 item drops each time, I haven't gotten a single piece of loot. It's bewildering bad luck and I would've endured it yet again if it weren't for two people getting two items each on my last run. Like, damn. After this, I strongly think PF parties should be locked to one loot per week per floor. Or at least SE should add a new PF creator option to limit loot besides master-loot.

    Also, as a melee DPS, this tier is incredibly tiresome with its excess of max-melee mechanics. Holy S is it tedious to constantly position yourself pixel-perfectly to keep up-time. It wasn't nearly this bad in Abyssos. Give us a break.

    The loot formula is only as bad as the community using it. JP does left too right, leave after 1 item in DF/PF and it works there because they put in the effort to socially cast out people who are repeat offenders in their systems. We use statics with our own dedicated loot rules for this purpose.

    Also counter-rant on your melee take - boo hoo, you have to do max melee for a variety of mechs on bosses with hitboxes the size of the sun. 40% of them not even having positional requirements from the few positionals you have left.

    Sorry but Melee DPS in terms of fight design has like basically no weakness and Ranged jobs' range is a pitifully useless advantage. We can talk about it when they stop making arena-sized boss hitboxes.

    I think one problem you'll run into is people consistently running down the timers in the hopes that their preferred gear piece gets rolled on first.

    I personally prefer having max melee sized AoEs because it offers yet another means of skill differentiation from other melee players. I don't think that fights need to be designed with 100% uptime conditions either, because that's why we're given movement tools in the first place. I'm not really sure why the discussion around the current tier's hitbox size is at all relevant here, and as a tank you're always going to be the first person to be denied uptime if space around the boss becomes more limited. This design benefits you much, much more than it benefits melee dps. We could always go back to 'spin the dice over which tank gets the downtime flare marker' if you prefer.

    i think the games loot rules are garbage but for completely different reasons, its great that we can be all classes on one toon, but sucks when you realize you get all of like 8 chances at loot from savage per week divided among 8 players, and in alot of cases thats not a static 8 players but random pugs, so on average you are looking at 1 piece of loot per week for 19 classes that need 11 pieces each...
    savage just seems like the ultimate waste of time for no reward, the devs basically promote skipping it and just waiting till you get equal gear free from tombstones at the end of the xpac.

    This is my gripe with Savage as well. I like it for the aspect of learning a fight but it's very high stakes with very little reward.

    1.) Stop pugging?

    2.) Really? Max melee of all things to complain about? In a game where melee have nearly 100% uptime now a days? You would have hated raiding in HW when you were constantly out of range and couldn't even hit the boss.

    I agree. I'm also torn that gear and strength is kinda fun to accumulate and it's the traditional thing incentivising players and yet there's fewer and fewer places to use that gear. Dungeons almost always have ilvl caps. Deep Dungeons and Exploratory Zones use their own gear values or progression. The battle content outside of those are pretty trivial and not fun for repeat players AND new players if they get gear though, too, because gear doesn't really impact the way you play at all. You just do the same buttons but less total, because the boss dies before they do anything interesting and you're even in less danger of dying.

    So, not only is there basically nothing to do with your rewards but grind FATEs, the current expert and Savages but faster, it also matters just enough that it's a restriction when you want to try a new job.

    I feel like the system might be served better by either being more complex so that gear you acquire is more meaningful or even simpler so they can lean in to the job swapping feature.

    On the simpler side, hell I'd be okay if there was just one piece of gear for every slot at every item level that all jobs can use, and then a weapon. The main reason people like new gear is glam, but they could just make new glams. The core gear would just adjust its relevant stats to whatever job you're on.

    Me : I wish there was an option in the PF creator to limit loot to one per person.

    Guy #1 : Don't like it? Join a static.

    Me : Max-melee ranged AOEs aren’t hard, but tedious and too many of them ruin a fight for me.

    Guy #2 : Dude you’re a melee DPS. You get 100% uptime on all fights with 2/5 of them having no positionals! You’re priviledged compared to us lowly ranged DPS who can’t match your numbers despite our range advantage! You should be thankful you get to still hit the boss at all!
