    Redo FFXIV: Remove the dance, introduce RNG encounters

    If cbu3 doesn't want harder content then how about removing the scripted fights?
    The solution is simple, remove the script and let boss encounters do mechanics randomly.

    An example of this would be Amon (should be Amen, but I'll forgive them since they're eurocentric) in Crystal Tower. Instead of:

    auto attacks
    2. Circles on the ground
    auto attacks
    3. Line lazer
    auto attacks
    4. Meteor towers
    auto attacks
    5. Stand on circles

    Rinse and repeat

    It would be:

    auto attacks
    2. Rng script: Stand on circles
    auto attacks
    3. Rng script (can't use stand on circle): Meteor towers
    auto attacks
    4. Rng script (can't use stand on circles nor meteor towers): Circles were 10 people stand on them
    auto attacks
    5. Rng script (can't use circles, meteor showers, nor stand on circles): Use line lazer

    Now all of a sudden a Crystal Tower run you did today is different from the one you do tomorrow.

    This way you kinda keep the same difficulty but you keep the user (player) engaged in the fight as they don't know what will happen next during the fight. Currently the game's extremely predicted, to the point where a preteen could learn the scripted fight and rarely ever take damage. That's the level of engagement of this game.

    I think you might mean Xande and not Amoen, but yeah. +1, not every fight needs to introduce every mechanic individually like Thordan Ex, and they certainly don't all need to be introduced so slowly.

    Take the speed the Criterion dungeons ramp up and throw in some randomness for fights that we're not trying to tell a story in. If I'm gonna fight Octomammoth 100+ times because he's in the roulette, I'll have plenty of time to learn everything he does because I'm going to fight him more than once.

    I think you're confusing bosses as it sounds like you're talking about Xande and not Amon.


    But definitely the bosses could stand to be a little less hard scripted and change up their order of attacks...

    You realize it wouldn't make things necessarily harder right?



    Instead, you'd get people fishing for the easier mechanics and ignoring the harder ones.



    Or you'd get bad RNG patterns and it would be annoying.





    Strict scripting is boring too, but pure RNG for mechanics is also bad.



    Every fight where theyve had RNG on what mechanic appears has had a "good" pattern and a "bad" one. P8s with beast first is worse than snake first.



    Guardian had a better pattern also, but it's been a while so I've forgotten which it was.




    Also storm talking about casuals sweating when they don't do savage content is funny. Can you imagine if housing and venues required savage clears first? Maybe that would improve the playerbase some.

    That's only in the context of 'I'm so goddamn bored playing this game that I'm more interested in trying to score on a leaderboard outside the game', not 'I'm so goddamn bored of this game only ever throwing the same three attacks I see before the boss dies and doesn't do anything cool'. The game has battle content that exists outside of Savage+ and it's past time for developers (and some players) to remember that.

    Not every boss needs to be random, but not every boss needs to give everyone a tutorial on what to do over the first few minutes of a 3 minute fight.
