You can't just tell someone that their subjective opinion is wrong. Your "absolute cakewalk" is wrong. How about that?
I played Vanilla, it was a bit more dangerous, but it was far easier. Job rotations in FFXIV are about two orders of magnitude more complex that Vanilla WoW. Recall in Vanilla, Hunters' rotation on Molten Core was literally press autoattack AND NOTHING ELSE. Most bosses had some fire or some adds that might have done a cleave. That was really the extent of "mechanics". FFXIV's combat, both player Job rotations and boss mechanics, are far more challenging than Vanilla WoW's until at least Blackrock Keep, but the open world is generally easier, so it, on balance, comes out to a similar overall difficulty. More of FFXIV's difficulty is in combat and class design/rotations, Vanilla's was more in the dangers of the world and lower player power relative to enemies. Did YOU play Vanilla?
