    That's... what True North is for. Positionals shouldn't be designed to have 100% uptime in the first place otherwise what's the point. I actually liked playing fights like E9S or E11S that made it deliberately harder to hit them as MNK. Trying to optimize my usage of Riddle of Earth and TN stacks to maximize positional damage when I couldn't hit them was fun. I don't see the issue here.

    People want dummy fights for uptime then we actually get a dummy fight (E2 comes to mind) and it’s boring as hell

    Optimisation in difficult situations is where interest in the jobs comes from

    People be like 'if we get rid of positionals, the devs can make more interesting encounters'

    The 'interesting, zero positional encounter':



    Trust people when they say to preserve positionals, because we've seen SE remove 'complexity' from other roles (eg tank stancedancing, healer Cleric Stance/damage rotations) and replace it with nothing. If positionals are removed, it won't lead to 'more interesting encounters'. Maybe some will be more interesting, but it won't be because of positionals existing/removal, it'll be despite their presence/disappearance.

    The solution instead would be to have the new melee just have absolutely zero positionals, not a single one. Then everyone who wants 'no positionals' would be able to play that. Or just stand on the boss's rear at all times as NIN, they already have only one flank per 30s, and you could back to back 2 Armor Crush combos with 1 True North as it is.

    Haven't done much Savage, but I have done Extremes... And Golbez for an example, you have Terrastorm, Lingering Spark, the 2nd and 3rd Gales with stacks, Eventide Triad/Fall and Stardust... I suppose you could pop a True North everytime you can't go the bosses back or flank every time one of those mechanics come up... Or just do less damage.
