I remember seeing multiple of them waiting to perform a specific action next to the Sylphs. Tbh i don't worry about it.

This is exactly it. Anyone can accuse anyone of anything and produce a screenshot that backs them up. Screenshots are easy to fake, meaning it isn't that difficult to sic an outrage mob on someone for something they didn't actually do.

Edit: wanted to make it clear that I am not accusing you of faking the screenshot. I'm just saying that because its possible, a rule had to be put in place.

Its because there is plenty of proof of people deliberately faking these things to put blame on players.

And note that depending on the country, its illegal to do (its a crime that can put you in prison). Slander is not a joke. And the damage is easily done. It doesnt matter whether you can proof it was false afterward, since a lot of people might already have decided to boycot and never even see that result (or dont even trust it).

With such rule, even if a name now is displayed, players are more likely to see the potentialy malicious intent of the screenshot and wont judge as quickly. Its a good way to protect players. But it comes with the requirement that it must be enforced with penalties for not obeying these rules. You wont hurt the abuser at all if his name is displayed, he simply wont care. Yet an innocent person might get destroyed.

And companies can take even more extreme steps to handle these cases. You dont often hear about this as they keep things anonymous (being professional). But thats because most abuse doesnt happen on a very large scale. Sure 50 bots sounds a lot, but if its a single person using a single computer, its a minor thing. There is no large scale abuse then even though it might look like it. There is a reason you usualy only hear about the sellers of the software and not its users.

Two reasons, both stupid.
1. It's the rules. You can't post a picture of a name AND say they are doing something improper. "Name and shame" is improper.
2. Only the "special team" can actually do anything about the bots. That requires filling out a form elsewhere. In game reports go to the GM's who cannot, in any way, do anything with, to, or about the bots, or they get fired. Nobody on the forums has any power over anything in game, so posting here is quite useless.

They do this all the time. Been this way since ARR.

It's why we no longer have levequests and why quests give so little EXP nowadays outside of MSQ nonsense. Makes it more difficult to automate grinding.

And to be clear, i doubt that any of us think you are faking the screenshot here. We all know its a real thing that really happens all the time. Its just the rules. And like Icountfrom0 said, the rules can be stupid.
