It would also definitely play into them making the game a life sim lol. Not that I'd mind as fashion is endgame and a good graphics update would be great, but it can only go so far if it's the same bare content routine.

That's true. Ideally, it would be great to have both lot's of new content and a great graphics update, but my expectations for SE being able to deliver have long since waned.
Glamour is endgame but I really wish it wasn't. I accept that it is, but if I knew that before I started this game I probably never would have started playing it in the first place.
Frankly, it feels less like glamour is the endgame and more like RP/ERP is the endgame because the glamour usually goes hand in hand with it.
99.99% chance probably a Titanman alt

The update to the engine and graphics was quite essential if they want the game not to age too poorly for the so-called next 10 years.
And anyway, from what we've seen, it's good but not exactly groundbreaking. It's mainly about getting rid of those PS3-tier textures and reworking the vegetation, which was basically just a pixelated mess.
Also, even though the colors in the presentation video were exaggerated, it's also a good thing that they're changing the color palette to make the game less dull in certain aspects.
Even if graphics aren't the most important thing for some people, it must be admitted that the vegetation in the cutescene and the low-resolution, low-polygon ground textures were simply an eyesore.
