FATE farming - only two zones worth it, make it six

Make it so all current expansion zones are worth farming FATEs in in terms of time efficiency, not just the last two.

While I wait for CC matches to pop I farm Elpis and UT, but sometimes I'd like to do other zones as well. But since I like efficiency as well, this is basically just shooting myself in the foot. In Elpis/UT I can do FATEs solo in a minute, most of the time I can even finish them before the timer runs out for an invitation pop.

However in Garlemald, Thavnair, Mare Lamentorum and the first part of Labyrinthos the bitter reality is that FATEs just scale me down so hard that I need double the time to finish them, making them very unappealing.

    Fix please!

I know this probably doesn't matter all that much and since it's neither a point of big contention nor a high universal demand it probably won't gather much traction BUT it's probably easy to fix and would just be nice to have!

How would you fix that? Have the FATE scale up to you? So what happens if you, a 90 lvl, is doing a FATE and someone who is 81 lvl, comes along to join it?

Same as what happens when I, a level 90, do a FATE in UT which is level 89 and someone at level 89 is also doing it. The difference in gear between level 81 and 89 is infinitesimally (I hope that's the right pronunciation) lower than that between 89 and 90.

So the FATE doesn't scale up, but I am just not scaled down to the level that I'm actually weaker in Garlemald than I am in UT.

Sounds like a you problem honestly? You can only be a certain amount of levels above a fate to do it. That's how it's always been.

Right now it sounds like you're complaining that you don't have your stat bloat so 'everything is slow'.

A fresh level 90 is around ilvl 550. Go do fates in UT with the level 89 class gear you get with a weapon around that ilvl as well and it'll feel slower as well.

Max ilvl is 660 now. Even if you're just getting normal raid and tome stuff you'd be around 650, and that's a HUGE Amount of stats all around you get.

Here's my ilvl 645 GNB weapon compared to a 545 GNB weapon. Look at the stats. They're almost 50% higher than a weapon that's 100 ilvls lower, if not higher than that.

I'm confused, you're just proving his point?

A level 90 joining a level 89 fate is FAR more impactful then a level 89 joining a level 81 fate. So why does the level 89 get downscaled?

Because how do you scale a FATE in an 81, to account for everyone that can participate?? And presumably it would be the same for Shb, Sb, HW and ARR fates? Or is this only a complaint for EW Fates, cause Eisi wants to farm them asap?

You can't scale the FATE to the player, the FATE is static. The players participating could change at any moment, so the players are the ones that have to scale.

But you are scaled down to the top level for that FATE. So, if its an 81 fate, you are scaled to... 84? 85? You still have an "advantage" over an 81 doing that same fate and can clear them quicker, than an 81.

Why should fates be even more brain dead than they already are? It's also annoying if a lower level is doing them and everything dies before they can even reach the location because someone else doing them is insanely OP. TBH I was doing fates on Garlemald on a lvl 90 recently and I found that things were dying pretty fast. Maybe it's the 100+ possible iLvl difference in lvl 90 fates that makes no sense and the max iLvl should be nerfed.

Isn't this more an argument for forcing lv90s to scale down to (barely over) the maximum ilvl of a lv89, keeping FATEs at a level playing field, just as they were intended to and how they function up until the levelcap? It's not as if people will be getting BiS just to shave a bit of time off of FATEs.

If the problem is an imbalance, fixing the few overpowered options is a faster and typically better solution than the fixing the majority.
