Game Crashes and Can't Log Into Character (Error Code 17)

Open the launcher and then settings, on the bottom you will find an option to reinstall the games data, do this and log into the launcher to reinstall all your games data files, when this completes then try playing the game again.

Another thing worthy of a note is Microsoft's OneDrive, It is a program built into windows setup, its meant to protect files from damage by saving online storage (and held ransom like your run of the mill ransomware virus).
Even IF you the user did not set this up yourself, it can also be used to overwrite files especially saved data at random.
If you do not use OneDrive or have any need for it then you will need to disable it by opening the Onedrive settings by clicking on its cloud icon on the system tray and open its settings, under the tab called Account will be a blue link at the top called Unlink this PC.
Click this and do not sign into microsoft. you can then uninstall onedrive from your apps and features page or leave and ignore it all together.

So, I just went through an overhaul and reinstalled windows. Reinstalled a brand new version of FF14. Then, it crash when I teleported to Fort Jobb.

CappyTan, that One Drive thing too....I disabled it. Microsoft really does everything it can to make things difficult. Trusting them to back up my files is just dumb, they slow everything down. I read this after I had already disabled it.
