My computer can handle nearly everything it is quite new and tops FFXIV requirements. I think it is just that I'm personally too stupid to handle this game even with high end experience in other MMO's. I'm just asking myself if I'm not able to attack a monster standing before it (as an experienced player) .... what will a complete new player to MMO's be doing at this situation? It's very frustrating.

There is little to nothing about XIV similar to WoW you have to have an open mind :P give it a bit longer and play around with it im sure you just dont understand the battle system and UI yet. If thats not the case it might just be lag.

Well hopefully SE looks at these posts and sees the need for some good tutorial action going on here in the next few updates.

    Dude.

    Dude

You KNOW that's hardly a tutorial. That's basically Tanaka putting a little text insert that should have been in the manual in the first place. A Real tutorial is something like the opening level to Gears of War or The Last Story that actively introduces you to new concepts and guides you through it to make sure you learned exactly what you need to learn.

Obviously for us who played through FFXI, anything is a step up, but a little text box does not a tutorial make.

I know about tutorial and 99% of the time it is just a lil text box. Least in the rpg I played such as oblivion. you read the box press the button and you get a cookie.

Honestly I thought that the ffxi tutorial (while being a little old world) was very good. You started in a safe zone, and just talking to your first npc you could ask for directions based on what you wanted to do (kill stuff, make money, craft, etc) Tanaka's style is a little rough to some to just through someone into the fight. On that note, I didn't have any problems myself.

WoW is that hard of a game to learn. I just had issues with it cuz ima console player. When you enter a new mmo you are a newbie to said mmo. Not all mmo have the same control scheme. You high standing in WoW don't matter here.

I felt kinda dumb in oblivion yesterday when I tried playing in third person. And I accidently hit a civilian npc. And I'm a big time player. Stuff like that just happens. Just take your time and learn the game. Read the manualor ask for help. don't beat yourself up over a silly game.

Yes,you're right, it's some kind of complaint thread because I really want to complain about the situation right now. I'm not saying it is a bad game or something like that but in my opinion it is a just too complicated gameplay (I'm playing with a keyboard), it's not intuitive, not self explaining etc. while in other MMO's I can start kicking monster withing a few minutes and get used to the gameplay situation and know how everything works ... here .. I was not able to at least attack a monster within one hour and that is what makes me mad.

this is why you shpould read the manuel and pay attention to the tutorial
ff games are well complicated. It does take a bit of time to learn the controls. I read ffxi book several times before playing (ps3 launch) What I did was do the press button and see what happens approuch. And i'm no game newbie either I play tons of rpg and been playing games since the nes and snes. More after 64 and even more after high school.
