FFXIV is just really really disappointing!

Actually nope. Most the community still pretty good. I avoid end game linkshells cuz they take the game to seriously. Always have.
But there is a difference between an elitist and getting harassed by trolls.

Pretty much most ppl here did infact made something outa nothing here. The guy just simple said he is disapointed the game is hard to learn for him. And it shouldn't be like that. And I agree with him on that. No game should be hard to learn. He is willing to wait till the changes in hopes they make it a bit easier to jump in. And he also did ask for no one to take offence that he is just dissappointed his first day on a new mmo was bad.

What exactly are you trying to say, can't make anything of what you wrote. Are we suppose to help him by saying "hang in there man, everything will be ok" ? Honestly you are going to sit there and act like you give a damn? If he dies tomorrow will you cry for days? let alone even cry or be sad? No, you can't because you never met him. We don't know him, your only viewing this from your point of view no others who will bash him for shits and giggles. That's just how people are and will never change. Just saying few words or trying to defend him makes you no better then them. Just silly guys or word as you put it "trolls" being jerks.

SE is presently looking for player's feedback regarding the assistance of new players.

The concerns you raise can be posted in the New Player Help section and can assist in improving the experience of other new players.

I would ask if you could try the game for another two sessions, collect your thoughts, and post feedback in the New Player Help on how aspects of the game can improve.

Hi all,

I'm posting this in the English forums because I expect to reach the most people here in these forums, however it is not my native language so please forgive spelling mistakes etc.

I bought FFXIV just before the servers have been shut down and was waiting now until they came up again. Before .. I was playing WoW for about 4 years in well known end content raiding guilds and quit because I was looking for some kind of change and some improved graphics quality (tried some other MMO's during that time as well e.g. Aion etc.).

I'm a really a big fan of FF, the style of the game and characters, the stories, everything what is Japanese at all ... but when I logged in the first time to XIV, created my charakter ...

Maybe I just expected to much from this game but I was never quitting a game as fast as I did with FFXIV, but I really don't get it. I was standing there ... was not able to move at all at the beginning, then remembered WoW standard KB layouts and was able to move ... came then to the ship where the monsters are. But for at least 1 hour I tried to attack one of these monsters and was not able to do so. I could not set my action bar on the bottom (was not able to place skills there etc.). I was trying and trying and trying... but sorry ... as I very experienced MMO player not being able to attack one monster within 1 hour ... I can't give this game a chance at all even if I am a really big fan and had very high expectations ... but sorry ...

I'm not willing to go though this, this is not at all fun, this is more going through hell! Sorry SE to say that but I will not take that.... please have a look at other MMO's and their control ... be it WoW, Aion or whatever ... but make your game playable at all. I'm not even talking about game mechanics or end game content or whatever... just let me kill one simple monster within a few minutes with an easy to use intuitive gameplay ... not more not less.. about all other stuff can be talked later.

Dunno what I'm going to do now if I will ever login again to see if something changed. Maybe one time I will try to see what happened but cannot promise... I am so much disappointed like I was never before from a game ... this is very frustrating and I cannot belive that a game at this stage can be released to production at all. Really not.

Please take no offence on this posting but I'm just a really really disappointed customer.

A better reason to quit WoW is to get away from the immature eepeening.

But all that is seriously a bug. just so you know, WSAD is to move with. also there is an option in configuration to enable and disable chat keyboard. I think that may have been your problem.
