FFXIV is just really really disappointing!

Hi all,

I'm posting this in the English forums because I expect to reach the most people here in these forums, however it is not my native language so please forgive spelling mistakes etc.

I bought FFXIV just before the servers have been shut down and was waiting now until they came up again. Before .. I was playing WoW for about 4 years in well known end content raiding guilds and quit because I was looking for some kind of change and some improved graphics quality (tried some other MMO's during that time as well e.g. Aion etc.).

I'm a really a big fan of FF, the style of the game and characters, the stories, everything what is Japanese at all ... but when I logged in the first time to XIV, created my charakter ...

Maybe I just expected to much from this game but I was never quitting a game as fast as I did with FFXIV, but I really don't get it. I was standing there ... was not able to move at all at the beginning, then remembered WoW standard KB layouts and was able to move ... came then to the ship where the monsters are. But for at least 1 hour I tried to attack one of these monsters and was not able to do so. I could not set my action bar on the bottom (was not able to place skills there etc.). I was trying and trying and trying... but sorry ... as I very experienced MMO player not being able to attack one monster within 1 hour ... I can't give this game a chance at all even if I am a really big fan and had very high expectations ... but sorry ...

I'm not willing to go though this, this is not at all fun, this is more going through hell! Sorry SE to say that but I will not take that.... please have a look at other MMO's and their control ... be it WoW, Aion or whatever ... but make your game playable at all. I'm not even talking about game mechanics or end game content or whatever... just let me kill one simple monster within a few minutes with an easy to use intuitive gameplay ... not more not less.. about all other stuff can be talked later.

Dunno what I'm going to do now if I will ever login again to see if something changed. Maybe one time I will try to see what happened but cannot promise... I am so much disappointed like I was never before from a game ... this is very frustrating and I cannot belive that a game at this stage can be released to production at all. Really not.

Please take no offence on this posting but I'm just a really really disappointed customer.

You should probably report this to the 'in-game' bugs section of the forums. They've been fairly observant to issues posted here. If you post that you've had an issue with the prologue, targeting, or using the action bar they might be able to help you. Seek that kind of help before you just give up.

Sounds to me like your computer cant handle it? ive never had problems setting up my action bars or attacking monsters / gathering ect.

Edit: if your a DoM (caster) i dont meed to offend but you know you have to accept your spell casts right? like hit 1 for fireball or w/e then enter to accept.

Did you take time to read the booklet and what the controls were?

So far and no offence to you any, youre the first to really have an issue. The UI is getting changed, if you feel you have a solution please share it.
Also even though I read WoW guide I still had trouble playing WoW when I first got on. To quit because it took time to figue out the UI is pretty silly. You could have came here and asked for help. The game does kinda help you play if you read the tutorial.

But unless you have suggestion or solutions try not to complain, this isn't a fan site to bash the game on. Its a site SE made to help the game and its community to become better. If you have an issue try to come up with suggestions for them instead of doing a "this game sucks".

Why not reconfigure the keyboard layout to your liking? I really don't see how not "knowing" the controls makes FFXIV a bad game.

it just may be some serious lag , when i tried to run FFXIV on my old tower it would log in and even display but it took minutes for commands or actions to be accepted, and of course by them i had mashed like 50 new commands so it never did anything i wanted.... of course being the long time experienced gamer i am... I bought a new tower.... ran perfect.

i tried, Just irritating to see "ffxiv sucks I quit" if they are asking for help i'm all for helping, but imo this isn't asking for help its a complaint thread.

But you are correct we shouldn't bash ppl.

her is some stuff you can do
1 read the controls
2 reconfigue the controls to your liking
3 if what you have is a big, please do report it.

Also feel free to ask questions we can and will help ya out. :3

My computer can handle nearly everything it is quite new and tops FFXIV requirements. I think it is just that I'm personally too stupid to handle this game even with high end experience in other MMO's. I'm just asking myself if I'm not able to attack a monster standing before it (as an experienced player) .... what will a complete new player to MMO's be doing at this situation? It's very frustrating.
