Is that any different than the "lets build this fabled weapon of legend... so we can discard it for a generic weapon once we find out there is a thing happening at this new place."

I would argue yes... considering we have a glam option and we can pretty much say we're using said weapon for however long we want. The reality is still true and makes 0 sense as you would think that such a powerful weapon would still be good well into the next expansion (like over half of it) but meh. My suspension of disbelief is... inconsistent at best we'll say and leave it at that.
