A reminder that Ala Mhigo ise still useless

I would argue yes... considering we have a glam option and we can pretty much say we're using said weapon for however long we want. The reality is still true and makes 0 sense as you would think that such a powerful weapon would still be good well into the next expansion (like over half of it) but meh. My suspension of disbelief is... inconsistent at best we'll say and leave it at that.

I really liked Stormblood in many aspects, but one in specific, I think it was extremely flawed and is the 'double feature' aspect of that expansion's story by dividing the zones equally, because it leaves a want to see more of each end. Regardless, they could have tailored the story in a way that Ala Mhigo became the secondary capital (Radz-at-Han equivalent) instead of Rhalgr's Reach.

Maybe they could have fleshed out the Gyr Abanian zones a little better, because even though it's made up of 3 zones, I feel that it's just a big single one. I know the geography of that area is mostly the same, so there's not a lot to do with that, but maybe the story could work just with the Fringes and the Lochs, leaving another zone to be added to the Othard front - maybe a little more of Hingashi, the smaller island that Kugane is at.

To be fair we also dumped Arenvald, Yugiri, Gosetsu, Fordola etc.

You know what would've a neat trend in these expansions? If one major character per expansion joined the main cast so that you always have that history.

Like technically Estenien was a Heavensward character (even though he was present in ARR) that slowly developed him into part of the main cast.

Imagine if Arenvald was the next character to be a mainstay from Stormblood and then we get Ryne to somehow come with us into the Source as our Shadowbringers representative and for Endwalker...well I guess Zero is maybe taking that place. But something like that built into the narrative would've been kinda cool to see instead of just having us stuck with the main Scions for so long.

The Ananta tribe quests are right there in the Fringes.

The EW healer role quests take place almost entirely in Gyr Abania.

To be fair we also dumped Arenvald, Yugiri, Gosetsu, Fordola etc.

To be fair, those characters all featured heavily in the EW role quests.

I'd argue that The Fringes are not Ala'Mhigo - I mean a fringe is, by definition, "the border or outer edges of an area or group".

As for role quests - I did note in the post you quoted that I haven't completed many of them, and I haven't done any of the healer ones.

This is subjective, but since the story for Ala Mhigo was FF14 at its most sophomoric, I'm quite happy to leave behind Ala Mhigo (and Lyse) and never look back.

I wish they would have made ala mhigo and doma as separate expansions to flesh them out more. It felt doma portion got a lot more attention and story. I also feel garlemald and the rest of endwalker could also have been separate expansions to flesh out more of certain things.

The Far East got a lot more love and attention post SB and beyond. It feels so bad but I guess they did it that way because fantasy Japan/Asia is a lot easier and socially appealing than the turkish/middle eastern setting. But that's a little tinfoil theory of mine for why Far East got the most attention.

Wish they did so much more with Gyr Abania and Ala Mhigo
