profiles missing after new install

I had to reinstall FFXIV. Unfortunately, I did not save the character data of my two characters.
When I now log into FF and select a char, all my profile info, classes and jobs info is still visible. However, I can no longer select my sets and change class or job. The only one available is the last one I had used before the new install (both chars only have the miner set available).
This is very frustrating. I can't advance or level my other characters.
I sent a ticket to support, but only received a standard non-reply answer that stated that they had received my message
Anyone know what I can do?

There is no support issue to fix. Gearsets are saved client-side, and this is working as intended. If you didn't upload any of your character data, you have to rebuild your gearsets from scratch. For the vast majority of purposes this should be as simple as equipping each weapon and soul stone and hitting the Recommended button, then saving a new gearset. If you have any funny sets like for lower level ultimates, you'll have to equip those manually.

When you're finished, log out and go back to character selection, then back up your character data.

I just got the support answer to my ticket, and they said the same answer. I have to create 2 new chars and start again as level 1.
Will the retainers that I am paying for be still available to my new chars?
I shall be installing a faster and larger C/: hard drive in three weeks and must reinstall Windows 11 again and all the games and programmes that I need, so I shall have to wait a while before starting FFXIV.

Why do you have to create new characters?

The game didn't delete all your equipment. That's all stored on the servers. All you lost is the shortcuts that equip everything at once, and those can easily be recreated. Just re-equip your gear and save it as a new gearset.

I did what you advised and could re-save my class and job profiles
Even support wrote me an e-mail and suggested that I had to restart with 2 new characters at level 1.
I am currently re-equipping my classes, but as soon I saw that that your tip worked, I had to log into here and thank you
