Regular Game Crashes - Have Tried Over A Dozen Fixes

Hello Forums,

I am a new player that just installed a few days ago and I am having nothing but issues with this game crashing. I have tried everything I have found online and it won't fix it. Below is a list of everything I've tried so far, is there anything else I can try?

The crashes are completely random. They have happened in cities and out, while loading a new area and not. Each of the following items I've tried were done 1 at a time to see if anything would fix it. Things I've tried so far;

1. Hardware limiting FPS to 120 using NVIDA Control Panel
2. Dropping my graphics settings in game from max to high, and then dropping other settings further.
3. Reinstalling the game using the restore option in the launcher
4. Running on DirectX9 instead of 11 (it made it worse).
5. Updated Graphics Drivers
6. Ran Windows Update and confirmed no updates available
7. Undervolted GPU using MSI afterburner. Went to a linear 1800mhz from 837 mV onward based on recommendations. Here is an image of the MSI afterburner voltage curve https://imgur.com/a/KKest7e
8. Disabled GeForce Experience overlay
9. Used GeForce Experience to optimize game settings
10. Go into the graphics settings and turn 'Screen Space Ambient Occlusion' off.
11. Navigated to the ffxiv_dx11 exe, right click properties, go to compatibility tab, click change high dpi settings, check override high dpi scaling behavior. For good measure check disable full screen optimizations
12. Disabled DOCP (AMD version of XMP) in the BIOS.
13. EDIT - added to list: Changed in game resolution to 3440x1440p (60hz) and set an FPS limit to 60 instead of 120.
14. Set game file to always open as Administrator.
15. EDIT 2 - adding the following to list: Updated BIOS and then retried the following;
16. Play with normal settings.
17. Drop settings from 3440x1440 (120hz) to 3440x1440 (60hz).
18. Undervolt again with MSI Afterburner with the above lowered settings.
19. Lower power limit to 70% with MSI Afterburner with the above lowered settings.
20. EDIT 3 - Ran game in DX9 (tried this before)
21. Went to the Launcher Settings and "Rest System Settings."
22. Disabled XBOX Game Bar
23. Downgraded Resolution from 3440x1440 (120hz) to 2560 x 1080 (120hz)
24. Disabled OneDrive
25. Disabled AntiVirus
26. Disabled Razer Cortex

I'm on Windows 10 with 32gb of 3200mhz RAM, an EVGA FTW 3080, and am AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU.

I don't know what else I could possibly try. Any ideas? Here is my system information from the launcher.

Heya, those problems are an indicator for hardware problems. But it is not easy to track them down. FF14 is a real princess and needs 100% stable hardware. And undervolting of the GPU can cause instabilities. So i would not du that.

I would start with RAM tests like memtest86. Maybe it can detect something. An old PSU can also cause those instabilities. The Nvidia Ampere series is very PSU unfriendly. Maybe setting the power limit to 70% might help etc.

Ha. It definitely is a princess! None of my other games have this issue. I'll try the RAM test. My entire system is only 2 years old, including the PSU.

When you say setting the power limit, are you referring to the GPU? In other words, dropping the power limit to 70% using MSI Afterburner?

I gave this a shot at 70%. I ran HWMonitor and reset min/max as I booted the game. Crashed within about 10 seconds of loading in. That has happened before so I don't know that the speed is indicative of the setting being worse or just look. This link has the min/max values with that setting though. https://imgur.com/a/wx63PoZ

I assume this is what you are referring to? My motherobard voltages? These are without MSI afterburner enabled so no undervolting or power limiting when these were taken.

To gather, I cleared the min/max and played the game for about 10 minutes until it crashed.

I also took a 13th step, which was I changed my resolution to 3440x1440p (60hz) and set an FPS limit to 60 instead of 120. Still crashed though.

OK, the voltages look good. And DirectX is already installed. Because without it the game would not start. And it looks like your BIOS is very old. I do not know which mainboard you have but i guess, it is the Tuf Gaming X570, right? If so, please update the BIOS. It is important on AMD plattforms.
