Basically war burning, given recently they nerfed War aoe range, but go to, lets say... kobalt camp near iron lake (SE of it). A War runs in, agro's like 12 kobalt and aoe's them down. I could be wrong, but when it first came out when it was still Mrd and not War, I believe there were many more kobalts, but its the same idea anywhere.

I think the new camp is in the Ixali stronghold by the silver chest (AKA wolf camp), you have a War pull like 20+ wolves, then aoe them down for massive chains. Getting to 50 can take hours.

Yes, Alhanelem, theres nothing bad in the world, its all butterflies and rainbows.

The idea of having multiple chars to lvl dif jobs believe it or not, came after FF11's style. Thats all WoW. The purpose of every job on a single character is because when that style was created it was a rediculous idea to expect people to buy multiple accounts to repeat the exact same quest over and over. Sadly im afraid, it wasnt designed for you my special snowflake.

    I see.

Then I think what's broken here is not the leveling speed or exp curve is too fast, its that "war-burning" and other things like it are too fast

Leveling speed should be adjusted to the story and grand companies and things like that. Those things are fine for the most part. If exp groups are intended to be part of the leveling speed that's fine too, but ultimately the leveling speed is not the problem its that exp groups like this are out of whack.

The absolute worst thing you can do is make leveling slower because people are aoe-chaining to 50 in a few hours

I'm sadly not old enough to remember level-less MMO's, ive heard alot about them over the years, and most of the convo's end up being "every1 just helped eachother and just had fun, there was basically no endgame, because there was no endgoal", its like tetris still being fun or something.... idk, honestly didnt get to see it to know if I would like it personally.

"Endgame" also doesnt mean the game ends... except in games like wow... so i guess basically every game out there. Endgame in 11, never ended, the most hardcore endgame shells like Excellence where the game was literally a job so they could be the best, never finished. It was impossible, not a single LS/group of people ever killed AV without a glitch/exploit and those were always quickly patched. It took something like 8-9yrs of the game for the first LS (cant remember the name) to kill PW. I dont know of a single person to get more than 7 relics.

I guess it can depend on your definition of beating the game.

Actually Casker, it kinda is the problem i guess, the idea of leveling faster is a problem for those that know how to level currently, which many of you dont seem to know about, because of these kind of groups, ive used them, and if i had more jobs/classes to level, I would do it again, if it wasnt there, i would be happy, but aslong as it is, ill use it.

Its kinda of the same situation in 11... asking hardcores to simply not use something that is allowed in the game, will not happen, its not about ruining our own experience, its about doing whats smart/effective.

If FF11 worked the same as 14 does, it actually kind of does now... its called abyssea, war/mnk burns, really anything burns, this game is leading the same way, and 11 is currently a joke to us, i could log onto 11 right now, and lvl any job from 1-99 in a day, this is not exaggerating in any way shape or form, its easily possible. But its the same situation here now, reguardless if you know about it and/or want to accept that its there, but PLing in general is what is ruining it for everyone.

PLing in 11, like I said before, did not ruin the party, it would maby increase exp gain by 1k/hrish or something, it was a 1/7 increase. Now in 14, you can take a lvl 50 anything and go into nanawa mines, to the eye camp, have 7 lvl 1's in the party on the far end of the room and leech exp, you can get them all to lvl 20 in like 1hr.

I pretty much agree that people are always going to do what is most effective, and powerleveling is too fast. That's why I think they need to design around that. Other than that I think we are looking at this differently maybe.

Perhaps I'm interpreting what the devs said differently though, but when they say that 2.0 will have faster leveling, I didn't think they were referring to these power leveling groups but more the general leveling experience of going through the story and content. If going through that is a little faster then it doesn't bother me, because at the moment there is barely enough there to get your first job to max level.

I think the biggest problem right now is going through a second job. There is pretty much nothing to do but grind, and if there is nothing to do but grind then I really don't care if it goes by quickly. If they want leveling to be slower (compared to powerleveling) then they need to insert actual content first.

If they could get rid of PLing... maby? Idk really, I do not personally have a sample size of how long it takes to level normally sense chains came out, all 50's. Is it actually slow? I thought it was fast with surplus.

My playtime is higher than most, I have the luxury of owning a business and playing at work so my case is... special. I started playing a few months after the game came out (pre-ordered, tried, old laptop sucked, solo'ed a few empy weapons with nin/dnc on 11), I was 50 Thm within maby a week and a half, the day I came over my ls told me it would take a month, but i was literally complaining that i couldnt hit stage 5 surplus no matter how much exp i gained.

So basically... me agreeing that it needs to be "faster" may never happen. I would like to say "To each his own" here or something, but sadly most people in these kind of threads are the type of people that would buy a coloring book thats already colored in, so they dont have to do it...

Well I got the game at launch, played for a week maybe two, got to level 18 or so and quit because it was just grind and the slew of other problems the game had. I don't remember seeing even one 50 during that time. The best gear I saw was maybe chain mail on the best japanese players and most people were tripping themselves up over the crafting system.

Came back about march this year, went through from the beginning playing "casually" doing story quests and grand companies and all that. Took me about 3 weeks to get to 50. My gf started about a month ago playing casually took about a month. This is with me power leveling her half the way.

Most people don't have time to just play videogames all day. And when they want to play something, they don't want to just grind. That is one of the big reasons why this game flunked so hard at launch. If you are were able to stomach this game at launch, let alone get to 50 in a week or two, then I think we can both agree that you are an outlier. Most people still playing this game ARE outliers.

Ultimately IDGAF how long it takes to get to max level, there just needs to be stuff to do and it can't ONLY be grinding. As it is, after the first job, grinding is all there is to do. In the grand scheme of things I would say its too fast, but since there is nothing to do, I don't care.

SE just needs to deliberately design the leveling experience instead of plopping you down and expecting you to grind 50 levels. Maybe some XI players will do it but if they want anyone else to play it they are going to have to do better than that. GW1 had you at max level within a few hours and it was deliberately designed and it was fine.

At least it's only 22-25 levels now. Which is still too much.

Those top 3 reasons people left 11 are funny.

    1. Jobs that are not tanks, became the tank (mnk). A monk + whm could literally kill every single NM in abyssea excluding 3.
    2. People that werent uber got to feel like they were because the game was dumbed down so much that having more than 6 people was actually detrimental.
3.(is actually a personal reason of yours, not "peoples") If the game didnt become a joke, many wouldnt be here.
    4. Abyssea had the potential to be the best/hardest endgame SE ever came out with, mainly the first week of its release before people found out you could level in there and shortly after get crazy atma's. If you got no exp (like dynamis), and atma's werent there, best event.
