    Places Like: The Boyahda Tree?

If anyone played FFXI, you'll recall those unique and magical feeling places like the Boyahda tree. Remember how you first walked in to that giant tree, went through the tunnels and then found another tree inside the tree? If you haven't played FFXI, then let's just say I'm talking about places that really help with immersion in a game. Also recall how FFXI had the 3 starting cities, then the main "world capitol" if you will that was Jeuno.

Now, I'm not one of those people that wants FFXIV to be JUST LIKE FFXI. No, not at all, I'm quite happy it's different. The only thing I kind of miss is that FFXI had places like the Boyahda tree and FFXIV does not and while I realize that the game isn't finished yet, I'm wondering if:

1: Anyone thinks it will be in the game later

    or

2: Can speculate on it being implemented in to version 2.0 since they are redesigning the main cities anyway.

I just think these areas are key to the Final Fantasy experience and would like to look forward to exploring places such as these. As of now, all we have is the three main cities, some "dungeons" in between such as Mun-Tuy cellars and that's it. Thanks for your responses!

I have always been a supporter of immersive zones like Boyahda Tree compared to seamless boring zones, and I'm sure they will carry through their promises for 2.0. The zone is not only about the landscape, but also the music, the lighting/shadow, etc. I want to get goosebumps from the mist that cover the grounds, insects chirping, and lightning bugs flying.

OP must have missed the post when Yoshi-P said we'll be getting places like the Crystal Tower from FFIII. The devs not stopping with FFIII either, expect to see more familiar places from all Final Fantasy titles. That I guarantee.

Southwest of Sorrel Haven in the Black Shroud is what you're looking for.

I personally find the crashed battleship in Mor Dhona and sight of Ishgard in Coerthas both pretty breath-taking. But those are particularly obvious.
A rather unknown place that I also greatly like it's the ceruleum mine in Thanalan, it's a huge hole in the ground with many smaller refineries dotting around it. It's like a huge quarry.

It's sad because most of the best scenery in the game is tucked away where nobody has any reason to go to, but you'll get to see most if not all of them by acquiring the Wanderer's Shadow achievement. I suggest you give it a go!

I say no, because I hated the Boyhada Tree...bad memories there.

I say yes, because I enjoyed that zone, aside from my small personal crap with it.

I'm just worried that anything worth exploring is going to be in a instance that locks you out without 8 people and a time limit chained to it.

Shut up! Maybe they didn't think of this, and you just gave them the idea!

Seriously though, I'm crossing my fingers for open world stuff to explore that doesn't require tons of gates to open... I want Eorzea 2.0 to be an exciting world to explore, not queue up and run with the same people while trying to get through it as fast as possible. Some of us actually play games to get lost in them, not beat the clock.

This is basically the entire point of the map redesign for 2.0, from pretty much every single thing Yoshida or anyone else has said about it? Like 'more interesting set-pieces' was one of their defining goals, I'm pretty sure it even says something like that in one of the PDFs.

    I have a good feeling!

edit: hell yeah, the Boyahda Tree owned. <3
