Moonfaire - The Ranger Pose Emotes really should've been an earnable reward

So while I though the little seasonal quest was cute and all as usual, its no surprise how a little bit shortsighted it was for them try to promote a Mogstation emote into this year's Moonfaire theme.

Especially when it was used to promote the event in official social media. Why couldnt those ranger poses be temporarily given away as an in-game reward for participating on say a daily quest or FATE like other seasonal events? (yes I know because money).

Im not even necessarily mad that we have mogstation items but it would've been at least some good will between the dev team and their playerbase if they'd used this event to make them earnable, rather than just have them be on discount at the shop.

I don't think they'd do that, just do to the fact that they've never given people previous year(s) items in any single event they've ever done. They won't change anything about it if they know people will just buy items they missed in the shop.

pssht pretty much the reason yeah. It still sucks though.

Maybe if a lot of people cared about it in social media, they would start doing that.

They actually used to.

The second moonfire faire gave the first's items on the vendor for something like 300 gil. Then they realized they can make money with kind of shallow reasoning and haven't done it since.

The first and 2nd moofire fairies only did that because there were actually two fairies in 1.0, with different rewards. So the first two events in 2.0 gave the 1.0 rewards as well as new ones.



After the 1.0 rewards were exhausted, they stopped doing that.

You're kind of proving my point. There's no reason they can't do it. They just choose to milk the playerbase for money instead.

For a game who's director says "You can play other games!" there's a lot of FOMO in this one. It's only going to get worse, too.

They were earnable rewards.

You just had to play the game when they were available.

That or most likely I didnt start playing FFXIV at the time of the event's release. I keep forgeting that many of the mogstation items were originally earnable

I'd agree with you on Advent of Light since that's new but the reason they were using the ranger emotes in promotion is because they were earnable a few years ago when the Posing Rangers were the focus in Moonfire. They've been consistent that the only way to get the previous rewards is Mogstation.
