People use tools like Discord for various games. It's not really fair to call SE out on people using Discord and online resources (like Teamcraft), which is considered legit. Any popular games is going to use these things, and that is a sign of success not laziness. It's not the game's job to hand everything to you.

If SE did one thing, allow parsing or set up an official parser, it could 'get away' with a hard stance on 3rd party mods, once 7.0 drops. And I say once 7.0 drops, because the desire for reshade will likely drastically decrease. Actually enforcing this would be far more difficult then the actual aftermath.

The reason OP is using Discord is because OP is a pretty high profile troll here (him and his half dozen or so alts - he seems to get a new one every time one gets banned, leading people to believe he's a gil farmer or something that just has a ton lying around...though that begs the question of why he trashes a game he needs people to play to buy gil from him to feed his account habit...)

The Devs don't mean Disc and everyone with a brain knows it.

I'd love to see how the XIV art team feel knowing that all the hard work they put into developing new outfits and character models gets thrown to the side by a large percentage of the playerbase so they can just play overmodded, disgusting looking characters in skimpy outfits (or no outfits!).

If anything modding is a direct kick in the face to the art team.

Ah but now there's a whole community built around taking questionable screenshots, which mods are both needed to execute (Anamnesis and similar) and the mods are needed to, uh, make the characters look how they want.

on that subject my hope against hope is they reuse the neoishgard sets AGAIN (see lv88 gear) but this time they're genderflipped.
I'd bother doing extreme roulette again if 6.5 dungeon gear were the cool battlegowns instead the bland vests men got, the tank and healer sets on women are much better and more stylish (tho the mens tank set has grown on me).

Or they can make them lv1 alljob glamours like the sky pirate replica sets.

FFXIV went from "the MMO that doesn't need mods" to "that one moddable MMO" overnight. Of course, people love it because "it doesn't affect anyone", except...when half the screenshots posted on X (Twitter) are hardcore porn, some of which includes child NPCs. I guess that also doesn't affect the game, right?

Mare has at least 20,000 people logged in at any given moment. That's around the same amount as people who play on Steam. Thus, banning Mare alone (which doesn't encompass all mods) would have the same impact as removing the game from the Steam store.
