The sad thing is, day 1 of each raid patch i just make my own rotations and macros to use, as well as my own melds.. and that just comes from a basic understanding of how the game system works.- Crafters and gatherers depend on having Teamcraft and simulators to create rotations and macros + set up crafting lists, then share their macros through Discord.
Not everyone does, some youtubers and streamers I watch create their own using excel calculations. But yeah the vast majority use sims you're right.
All those tools are not needed, and honestly the game would be better off without them so the people that actually take the time to learn the systems would get rewarded for their effort.
Crafting in its current form is just 'wait for guide, press macro'. These people would have never survived heavensward crafting.
Personal opinion: I survived heavensward crafting. Didn't particularly enjoy it. What we have now is a massive improvement.
I honestly don't get it, either. Never used mods. I get some people love the things, but even many who do don't play because of them. The entire console part of the playerbase literally CAN'T use them.
Calling someone bad and saying they shouldn't give advise to others is trolling/attacking them, not trying to help them.
THAT is not "giving advice".
Also, dude, I don't have Piety melded in any slots. I only put Quicktongue on things when Crit and Det are maxed out because I don't like Direct Hit on a HEALER and would rather have more throughput/quicker heals if I need them. I play exclusively PF, no static, meaning I have to make up for other people's mistakes far more often in a far more wonky skill pool where even a bit faster spell time can be useful. Moreover, I have no issues with MP regen and don't oom, so my SPS (all of THREE materia slots, the HORROR!!! /gasp) isn't detrimental. It's a DPS loss vs Direct Hit melds, but only a minor one, and the points make little difference. Besides which, Healer is the one role that actually does have flexibility with melds "to taste". And my "taste" is preferring slightly faster speed to slightly larger hits.
But tell me, since you're a master who has learned how to play: What would be the total change in my overall damage if I traded those three SPS Xs for DHit Xs? Do the math and tell me what the difference would be. 0.1%? 0.035%? 1 whole percent? What have you got?
(And so you know, materia melding is not "how to play the game"; at best it's an ancillary argument about "how to optimize", but has nothing to do with PLAY).
...or were you just here to attack and troll, as VelKallor suggested?
As to the gear, I gear as I get tomes over time for it, and I also gear three roles at the same time (Healer, Tank, and Caster). I don't raid (well, VERY rarely do), so I don't have tons of raid gear for those spots. Why would I have gear from content I don't do? That makes no sense. Making a question post on the Balance doesn't supply the player with raid pieces.
This happens to me most of the time. Even when I'm not being active in a thread I'm attacked in it. By the people who insist I am never attacked and never attacked unfairly. In a thread about third party tools, someone's going to armory pages to bash and insult players. Which is a pretty good argument for why third party tools are bad, too, since they only enhance that sort of harassment.
Oh, been there. Seen how they're total jerks to people. There's a reason the Balance Discord is openly ridiculed on r/ffxiv and r/ffxivdiscussion.
Bingo.
Something I've noticed here. There are some trolls and a few really bad trolls which seem to be the ringleaders here. If someone ever defends a person they've targeted for their bullying/harassment, then they immediately swap targets and pound that person into the dirt. In another thread, I was defending someone from a dogpile and the bullies doing it immediately swapped targets to me and have spend pages on pages continuing to pound me and not let it go (ironically, while telling me I just need to let it all go). And the person I was defending I guess ran off scared trying to get away.Since you never had any need or reason to go poking into any logs I may have had ( or not as I dont use ACT or any addon ), I do want to express my appreciation in proving my point on how dps logs and FFlogs are abused and misused.
Your kind assistance in showing exactly why dps meters are banned in FF 14 is noted.
It's absolutely schoolyard bully behavior. I'm glad you're sticking through it, though.
that is a wonderful take. so in your opinion, the reason its not allowed is because of the victims? you have claimed to be against bullying and harassment in any form, so reading you victim blaming is an interesting view on why they are banned. no mention at all of the bullying and harassment that they open up. are some too thin skinned? certainly, but you cant just conveniently ignore the other reasons just because you want to back up KorosYou can have independent opinions, that is true.
But your independent opinions seem to pretty much always line up with his, and you gleefully join in whenever he's bashing people. So people associating you with each other seems logical.
Also, fun read:

Apparently, Spell Speed on Healers isn't a sin that only people who don't know how to "play the game" do. Go figure.

This game's community has been anti-advice for years. Every system in the game and its TOS supports not having to learn your job/the game correctly, so the community has been trained to treat given advice as a bad thing.
The game has become too comfy in recent years. A healthy learning environment is good, but the game's TOS and its various systems encourage players to ignore the idea of getting better at the game. While going to the opposite extreme wouldn't be good either, something needs to change.

^as bad as insulting someone for a bad parse is 14’s unfailing desire to hide any semblance of damage analysis ultimately hurts the game more because it pervades every system we have
When the person sitting at the back of puppy’s blanket doesn’t know that spamming hakaze has them doing 1/10 of the healers damage then it leads to situations like the YPYT argument or the sylphie argument
Then beyond that it leads to situations where people have an overinflated belief in their own skill which leads to the entitled attitude that gives us things like modern relics and class design, and it leads to an ever widening gulf between the casual and hardcore players because people don’t know how bad they truly are
We don’t need an official parser, but there is absolutely zero reason why xivanalysis could not be an in game feature that is only visible to you, having that frame of reference allows better advice to be given, if someone gives advice and you are initially “well I’ve gotten this far I should be fine” then read your XIVanalysis and have 7 majors then maybe that person is giving useful advice
First step is getting people who don't care about how they play to care. At the end of the day, people are paying a sub to do whatever they want in the game. If someone wants to spend 6h ERPing in a house before spamming Cure 1 in all roulettes, why would they bother to care about doing more damage or optimizing?^as bad as insulting someone for a bad parse is 14’s unfailing desire to hide any semblance of damage analysis ultimately hurts the game more because it pervades every system we have

The analysis would be good for those who want it but completely ignored by those who don't and the problem still wouldn't be solved for anyone who wants people to perform at their best.
