At this point will FFXIV collapse if all mods and third party tools disappear?

FFXIV went from "the MMO that doesn't need mods" to "that one moddable MMO" overnight. Of course, people love it because "it doesn't affect anyone", except...when half the screenshots posted on X (Twitter) are hardcore porn, some of which includes child NPCs. I guess that also doesn't affect the game, right?



Mare has at least 20,000 people logged in at any given moment. That's around the same amount as people who play on Steam. Thus, banning Mare alone (which doesn't encompass all mods) would have the same impact as removing the game from the Steam store.

Surely it won't impact anything, right? So let's try it!

Honestly the biggest issue with the modding community.

They don't know where to draw the line and keep pushing the boundries of what they can get away with, i really hope SQE do crack down and they might learn their lesson.
I used twitter for a few days and was just bombarded with hardcore XIV porn on a constant basis, and it was disgusting. If that is what the playerbase has become, SQE should have cracked down earlier.

This! All 3rd party programs are not ok just doesn't work. We need to draw the line somewhere and it's SE's job to draw the line. For example there is a huge difference between using discord, getting a hat mode for viera, using ACT, using cactbot, housing mods, botting ones that automate crafting & gathering or botting an ultimate or market board. All add ons are not the same and shouldn't be treated the same way. All 3rd party programs are against toss benefits most the people who stretch the rules furthest. We need more open discussion like wow where dews are clear about what is ok and what is not.

Other thing i don't understand why people say that they are ok with mods, i'm personally ok with some of them but for me i don't like botting mods and feel they are unfair. Are you really ok with all mods and not just some?
