FFXIV went from "the MMO that doesn't need mods" to "that one moddable MMO" overnight. Of course, people love it because "it doesn't affect anyone", except...when half the screenshots posted on X (Twitter) are hardcore porn, some of which includes child NPCs. I guess that also doesn't affect the game, right?



Mare has at least 20,000 people logged in at any given moment. That's around the same amount as people who play on Steam. Thus, banning Mare alone (which doesn't encompass all mods) would have the same impact as removing the game from the Steam store.

Honestly the biggest issue with the modding community.

They don't know where to draw the line and keep pushing the boundries of what they can get away with, i really hope SQE do crack down and they might learn their lesson.
I used twitter for a few days and was just bombarded with hardcore XIV porn on a constant basis, and it was disgusting. If that is what the playerbase has become, SQE should have cracked down earlier.

honestly the FFXIV dev team cant ever win this battle. Modding is so ingrained in gaming culture both positively and negatively that its commendable and expected for them to take that "dont ask, dont tell" stance about it. Because yes really, modding in MMOs imo have done more harm than good with letting the fans do the work that the devs should be doing. People already pointed out how ridiculous WoW is with its addon usage that it made the devs super lazy and complacent with their game design and letting the game further stagnate as the years go by because of no potential new blood to come in and play the game. You're expected to download a million things just to do the basic content and while this works favorable with veteran players, its one of the major factors for its slow stagnation.

Really, the biggest reason for why they dont go full Robocop on the modding community is because they dont want to be policing every single player. Honestly I just wish they hire a team that would just go incognito and look at all the popular mods and add those QoL features rather than slowly wait for a huge drama scandal to get them to notice.

And I also dont agree on the sentiment of SE stealing the modder's work. First of all, its their game, they hold all the rights to it especially when they expect players to follow basic ToS. Modders going behind their back to do what they want is still breaking the terms of service they agreed to, so I always roll my eyes whenever somebody gets caught and act like theyre not at fault. And I also roll my eyes when they get upset with SE doing the sensible thing and adding those features into the game and feel like its unfair, not realizing that they got banned not because of the mod itself (for the most part) but for breaking the ToS to use it in the first place.

I always refer to this analogy with modding that the issue isnt about if somebody broke into your house but had good intentions by giving you some cookies. The issue is that you broke into somebody's house in the first place.

This is an obvious hot take considering past discussion with modding being more into the favor with a lot of people. I personally dont really care, but I still have my opinions on the matter anyway.

I'd still play, but probably only on Monk, since virtually everything else seems an unnecessarily button bloated mess without the logical consolidations of even extremely modest XIVCombo use (F4<>B4, Flare<>Freeze, etc.).

God, the original Character Panel and all the even basic stat information being hidden from players without plugins, though...

Or being unable to skip utterly unneeded confirmation checks...

Would be nice for the base game to be able to catch up at least to plugins of 3+ years ago...

Quantity/quantitative means having a measurable value. For example "That person is 6 feet and 3 inches tall". These are generally going to be objective measurements using a standard measurement tool and system of some kind.

Contrast:

Quality/qualitative, which means not having a measurable (or not presently measured) value. For example "That person seems very tall". These are often subjective and are sometimes things that cannot actually be measured, such as "That person is very white", where the amount of "white" a person can be is not clearly defined and no standard of measurement exists.

But in this specific case, it's also for another reason, that it's an idiom:

Anyway, it's whatever. I guess it's just a cautionary thing to not be quick to get a dig in on someone when it can be avoided and generally agreement otherwise exists. Something I learned a long time ago: Never correct someone's spelling on the internet. 9 times out of 10, you WILL misspell, typo, or have autocorrect butcher a word and then they will pounce on you for your apparent faux pas. Better to just roll with it or ask "Did you mean...?" in case that it does lead to confusion ("You said to, did you mean two?") that you need clarified. And that we all can learn things from each other from time to time, too. /hug

Ignoring the fact that Medica II as of Endwalker launch also shares 2s cast time with Medica I, your wording in this post particularly implies that 'any spells with [GCD =< Cast]-cast time cannot be slidecasted', when---as couple other have mentioned, you still can.

But then you doubled back later on:



So which is it now? I'm only pointing this out because you're giving off potential indication that you may have different--or worse, misconception of what a 'slidecasting' is.

And no, Slipstream is not even close on being clip-risky when their cast time is a tad shorter than its GCD. If any, only BLMs that will actually clip simply for existing because at least half of their spells have longer cast time than its own GCD, slidecasted or not.

Always played the game on PC. Never used any mods at all because I personally feel mods and addons have no place in an online multiplayer game.

Offline stuff like Fallout 4, Skyrim, Cyberpunk2077, etc are fair game tho. However I tend to beat the game first vanilla then look into how I can mess with it.
