    New PC build

I am in the process of building a new PC. The processor I am planning is an Intel I5 12600k and a Nvidia 4090 16m graphics card. Would that be sufficient to get maximum performance from FFXIV. FFXIV is the only game I play, and I don't want to overkill on hardware. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I hope this is the right place to post this.

A 4090 is complete overkill for this game. Pairing it with a mid range CPU would also cause bottlenecks. Get a 4070 or a 4060ti 16gb.

As mentioned above, but I recommend the 4070. The 4060ti 16gb isnt all that great, hunt for good deals for 4070 instead.

These are the officially advertised system requirements for the game post 7.0 graphics update:

As has been said, an RTX4090 would be overkill for FFXIV

Is this a joke post? FF14 can be played on a potato.

A 4060 is not a good value. The 4060ti for mid range gaming is a decent card. If all they play is XIV and they have a specific budget, the 4060ti is $100 less and perfectly serviceable.

Even if they say now that theyd only play FFXIV right now I'd not take it as an absolute. The 4060 was never in question, the 4060 ti models 8gb and 16gb are the only ones I was referring to. I'd argue it is better to buy a safer option like a 4070 card for 100$ more than to cheapskate on 100$ and get a 4060ti 16gb.

If I had to actually settle for a xx60ti Id skip the 40 series and try to find a decent used 3060ti if no unused units are available. The 4060ti is a decent card but not for that price.

Minimum and recommended system requirements tend to lowball on the settings. To sacrifice little you actually want to go above Recommended specs. It also is safer to do so with the new requirements from Dawntrail onward.

I'll be having a new PC built too, probably in October when have enough savings to justify it. Need a new PC one way or another if am to continue playing FFXIV, as my current PC (which is over seven years old) won't meet the minimum CPU requirements.

Have decided on a 13th gen i7 and an RTX4070ti for mine. Which I'm aware will be overkill when the PC will be mostly used for FFXIV but I figure I may as well whilst I actually can.

Good middle ground options. Make sure to check out comparison reviews for all 4070(ti) cards as some are actual stinkers (like critical lack of cooling on certain parts) and get the right Power Supply + Motherboard to suit your needs.
