Performance issues and severe fps drop

    Help with random performance issues

For the last few days I'll be in an instance (usually savage or ultimate) and I'll have about 200fps and then it freezes and stutters suddenly and drops to 30fps according to my counter (feels like 1-2 fps) and this happens randomly. Last time it did this I had to uninstall and reinstall the game and even reset windows. I have no idea why it's happening again.

I'm running an i7 and a 3070ti and it doesn't happen with any other game. Please help

For me it sounds like an overheating problem. Downlad Hwinfo and let it run in the background. This tool has also a log functionality and you can see the minimum and maximum temperatures.

    Cheers

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Please try the following:
    - Cap the FPS in-game, please try capping the FPS in-game to either 120 or 60 FPS to see if this helps.
    - Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card and sound drivers (if applicable).
    - Please try lowering the resolution.
    - Please try running the game as an administrator.
    - Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything.
    - Please be sure that Final Fantasy XIV is installed to the C: Drive. (If Steam version, make sure game and Steam are installed on same drive)
    - Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup.
    - Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated.
    - Reinstall game (If steam version, try uninstalling and reinstalling both the game and steam)
    - Verify installation files (Steam)

Disable Full Screen Optimizations. To disable this, please find the "ffxiv_dx11.exe" and right click it and select properties. Then under the compatibility tab there will be a check box labeled "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Check it and click apply.

Thank you once again for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!
