Burmecians: The race we will never get.

We all know XIV will not be getting another race after Female Hrothgar, but we can only hope that the developers go back on their word and we get more in the future :3

What are Burmecians:
The Burmecians are a race of ratlike people in Final Fantasy IX who live in Burmecia and Cleyra.

The Cleyrans live in a giant tree in the desert protected by a sandstorm that has raged for 1,000 years; the Cleyrans split from the Burmecians when the latter started to appreciate "the art of war", and have had no contact with Burmecia in over 100 years.

The most famous Burmecian would be the Character Freya from IX (Dragoon).


Burmecians are also known to use multiple Jobs in the Final Fantasy series, Such as Dancer, Dragoon, Priest and Oracle, and also fill out the basic roles of soldiers in war.

Why would they work in XIV:
Burmecians already have two distinct clans and a decent lore storyline to go with them. Their storyline would be enough to write an entire expansion on, and provide a 'smaller' beastlike race to XIV, something to mirror the massive forms of the Hrothgar for people that don't like the bulkiness.

Would people play a Burmecian? Or would it be a waste of time for the developers to even think about a new race at this point?

No. And they will never be in FFXIV simply because there is already a humanoid rat race in the game: FFXI's qiqirn.

So Burmecians would be completely redundant (to say nothing of Yoshi already drawing the line at adding any new playable races now - hrothgar and viera were the last).

I'm pretty sure they'd originally said they weren't adding more races after Au Ra in HW... and we ended up getting Viera and Hrothgar down the road...
Then finally male Viera an expansion after that. So hopefully people get female Hrothgar in Dawntrail... Then the expansion after that they FINALLY give us a NON POTATO TINY RACE! lol.

Technically there are an infinite number of races that could be invented and which we do not and will not have.

Burmecians have a relatively high chance of finding their way in here sometime as a non-playable race repurposing the Qiqirn model.

I doubt that there was ever any chance of them being playable, and certainly not without massive compromises on either appearance or gear equippability, which players have demonstrated they do not collectively accept.

Waste of time and resources. The current races should be focused on, rather than creating even more, which will more than likely result in even more compromises in quality for everyone else.
