Monk DPS against Warrior and Dragoon

Hey all. I'm returning to the game and i used to be a pugilist 38 back then. Now i'm between monk, warrior and dragoon. I don't wan't to really be a tank but marauder used to be extremely good if not better than pugilist on dmg.

Lancer on the other hand seemed to be kinda weak due to lack of accuracy. But that was ages ago when the game didn't even have chocobos.

My question is, if i'm going for highest dps possible for endgame, which one you guys think woud be best? Also in a scale from 1-10 how you you rate these 3 jobs as dps?

Thanks for reading and your answers in avance.

Its depends on the content. Mnk/Drg/BLM are pretty much equal for the most part. War has taken more a tank role.
Mostly depends on what your group likes to run with.

Alright, right now, Monk is at a 10, Dragoon at roughly 8.5 and Warrior at 6, I believe.

You saw it right, Warrior's a tank now, more than a DPS. I mean i'm pretty sure a Marauder DPS build is workable, i'm not 100% sure on that, the local Warriors can tell you more.

Monk is, if played with proficient skill, the most powerful single target DPS of the game right now, it tears through stuff like nobody's business (you'll rely on support moves from Lancer and Archer, too). Seriously, you will roll through every friggen thing in single target. That is, if you have the skill to keep your combos rolling and use your support moves well.

Dragon is, despite my favorite, under Monk. Deals a vast amount of single target DPS but what it looses to monk it makes up for in AoE with two AoEs at their disposal, plus Jump to generate TP and Invigorate... Gods, those guys don't run out of TP. They're also not as inaccurate as before, their WSes which had -acc built into them don't do so any longer and they are pretty boss at hitting criticals.

EDIT: Also take my word on anything not Dragoon with a grain of salt, i've seen Warrior at work and have kept up with the forums, and I believe I am sufficiently sane at distilling information to have an informed opinion

Not really, Dragoons and Monk are pretty much on equal ground now. Especially with Power Surge II/III. It depends on the situation. Monks have that elemental boost, I guess, but I'd still say they're about even.

Like the above poster said, warrior is mostly tanking nowadays and their dps is a little bit lower than monks.

Monks VS Dragoons on the other hand is a bit more difficult to judge. On single targets with little boss movement, I would expect monks to come out on top. For fights that require AoE's then dragoons will almost always win. And on fights where the mobs/boss are weak to elemental attacks (especially fire), then monks have the advantage. The other factor that may influence this gear. You can gear monks to use high crit potency body piece and have the head piece focused on his secondary stat, int, while many dragoon will need to gear for high piety in their body piece and get poor gear options for the head piece.

However, both look awesome in harness and subligar...

not really tbh Piety for drg is just Auto attack damage which is nothing compared to STR
most drgs including me go for more Crit hit rates+attack to crit most WS like chaos thrust which is amazing if it did all Crit so the head gear for dragoon (af) is pretty damn good
more than that they need a few materias to cap STR which is again the modifier for WS damage
in the end they are both really amazing and quite pretty insane when it comes to Single target
what DRG lacks in Elemental Attacks he has Power surge to make it up for it and vice versa

When your up against a big bunch of mobs there is nothing like a WAR. Surrounded by wolves in natalan for example you will leave a swathe of destruction. If you're up against one mob nothing compares to monk. As pugilist you can solo fantastically and can even tank, we've used pgl tanks successfully against coincutter, chimera and misers mistress the pgl tank we used is an experienced war and pld tank and found it as easy to tank as on war or pld but dealt more damage. Dragoon is a fun job that can do a lot of damage especially crit damage and has the advantage over monk in terms of aoe skills. Can be a bit squishy if he pulls hate and won't do the single target dps of a well geared monk but is a more rounded damage dealer.

Assume the best person for the job is wearing the best gear for that job:

If the MNK can exploit a fire/earth/wind weakness, MNK will top the parse.

If the MNK cannot exploit such a weakness, the DRG will take the lead.

If there are a lot of mobs, and they would otherwise rip apart the DRG, the WAR is king. MNK is least efficient in a horde.
