Is there a way to make someone take you off their friends list? I asked them to remove two of my characters off their friends list but it is still showing up that they have not done so on their online profile page.

I think that if I unfriend them it should be deleted from theirs as well but apparently not. And no it does not disappear over time. Does any one have any ideas or can Square Enix just do that or change it so if someone unfriends you it take them off both friends lists....

Nope, there's no way for you to do anything to get your name off another person's friend list.

You can take them off your friend list, but that does not take you off theirs. I've experimented with friends' alts and even doing things like blacklisting them doesn't remove your name from their list. It's a bummer because if someone turns out to not be the kind person they presented themselves as, there's no way to prevent them from having access to your online status and location, which can be used to harass and stalk you.

Sadly, the best (and very imperfect) advice is to be very, very stingy with who you put on your friend list.

Thank you for at least confirming that I was corrrect in what was happening. I hope that Square Enix sees this and implements a change. I have it set in my online profile that no one can see my online status or anything about me.... this includes friends but friends on whos's list I wonder.

Square Enix if you are reading this please change this. If we unfriend someone it should automatically be taken of the other persons friends list as well, in game and online profile.

they've never implemented this before and it's been practically since the start of the game that this has been requested. but JP being JP they won't do it.

in JP land if this were to happen they're more concerned about the offense to the owner of the friend list seeing that someone has unfriended them as it is rude. until that cultural shift happens it probably won't be implemented in game.

That is just down right silly.. I told this person I unfriended them and to take me off their friends list... I did this on discord.. So the offense is done LOL I guess I could change servers... have them move my whole account....

This is frustrating. I am going to ask them again, to remove me from their friends list and maybe if I say Please they will be more inclined to do so.,

Praying this comes in 7.0. At the time of this writing, if you befriend someone who turns out to be psychotic, they can keep you on their friends list and have permanent tabs on where you are, when you're online, etc. for the rest of your time in the game even after you remove them on your end. All it takes is one bad experience to make someone wary of ever adding a stranger again. A community where people are paranoid about befriending each other because it's impossible to shake a crazy person, is going to have a difficult time, and all this system has done is aided people who use it for abusive purposes while forcing victims to straight up make new characters to get away from stalkers they added who seemed normal when they met. But hey, at least nobody was oFfEnDeD about being removed from a friends list.

The logic is mainly that everyone should be able to work things out like adults in their eyes and if it doesnt, you're on your own unless the person turns into a psychopath. I wouldn't expect help from them. Moving DCs would be an option but just be aware they could probably still find you if they wanted unless you move to an entirely different region. Speaking of my own situation, it didn't end until the person started threatening my friends and impersonating my character lol.

Don't add people on your friend list. Mine have been empty since years if someone wants to talk that's why discord exists.

Is there something this other player is doing to upset you (other than not removing you from their friends list)? Assuming the other player is a reasonable adult, still being on their friends list shouldn't lead to any problems.
