    Housing Headaches

I need to get this off my chest after dealing with this nonsense for 3+ years.

Have the devs put little to no thought into housing design??? Do they not play their own content? Do they not feel the same frustrations as the rest of the player base? Or do they just not care?

Why is it that item sets (riviera, glade, etc) don’t match? Why can I not match a riviera half partition with a riviera wall partition? Why are the blank partitions the only partitions that can have a wallpaper but give me a partition with a door on it and I can’t change the wallpaper on it (to match the blank partition)?

Why are there SO many niche items that are difficult to match with ANYTHING else in the game??? There's more niche items than there are things that actually match. (Try matching a kitchen sink to, well, anything?)

Why can I only use tabletop items with lofts??? What’s the point of a loft if it can’t hold furniture?

Why do floor mats not line up with the walls and leaves a gap between them and the wall?

Why can I not move the main ceiling lights to where I want?

I don’t believe that decorating a house should be an exercise in frustration and that players have to resort to glitching to bypass half-assed development. Not to mention dealing with the surprise factor of hidden height requirements on individual items if you want to float them. (Yes, I know there’s a player created google sheet listing all height req for items, but if housing was properly designed we shouldn’t even need this!)

And let’s not forget the stupid pillars stuck in the walls. I just bought a small house in the Mist and those white corner pillars are not only ugly, not all of them are squared with the others!

And don’t get me started on windows not being centered because of said ugly pillars.

I want to see fixes to these issues. I want more flexibility with housing items. I want options to have more control over the interior of my house/apartment/etc. I want more streamlined item SETS that actually MATCH.

    By the twelve, PLEASE.

I think Yoshi P said something about the developers messing around to allow us to remove indoor pillars and such, it was an interview and it was a while back too. So maybe some of those quality of life changes arrive with the furnishing limit expansion in 7.x???

This is an argument I can agree with. I'm hopeful that now that there's more plentiful housing (unless you stubbornly refuse to leave overcrowded servers, that's on you) they can turn their development attentions to housing interiors and fix some of the glaring errors.

Agreed to all, but especially these two. lol Just started designing my small. It’s going to use a lot of lofts downstairs. And if they add a new item I want to use, and don’t make it tabletop, I will pretty much have to tear everything down in order to redo all my floats to include the new item!

As for the mats, you can storage glitch them a little closer, but not all the way, which looks odd for the bathroom floor tiles… we have a lack of good mats and rugs in general.

Island Sanctuary is more important and see's millions more players using it daily than housing... or was that just the first week?

If the devs put a fraction of their dev time into housing that they spend on doing rubbish, then housing would actually be great. A feature that the majority of player base take part in on some level.

Welcoming to the club of housing frustrations and limitations 101
    We have uniform jackets

I wouldn't hold your breath on fixes or QoL improvements, even though it's been mentioned about housing getting some kind of upgrade, I really think it was a mistranslation and they were talking about island sanctuary
We will see in the next few years if there are any worthwhile additions given to housing, ones people have asked for countless times over the years.
And no, the devs do not participate in the housing in a way players do. Housing wasn't ever meant to be this in depth, the devs are abit out of touch but atleast they're adding things.

Truth be told, housing is a niche thing. Its side content. While many players use it, very few get as deep into it as crafting or raiding. Which is why it's always going to be secondary in the eyes of the devs.

It doesn't help you can't make anything good without using glitches or other methods... so maybe if they rectified that. Considering console players essentially are very limited in what they can do. Then sort out sets of furniture too so people can easily make a matching apartment for example.

The fact that you have to essentially be a hardcore decorator to make anything decent, and it takes days at that (with glitches), then of course most people aren't going to participate.

First they could start by completely removing snapping and height restrictions on all items. Then a full 6 degrees of freedom movement for furniture placement. There's literally nothing stopping them from doing that because EVERYONE knows that is already possible.

Snapping and height restrictions are also just variables that can be changed for each item.

TBF I diagree; I've seen some very nice builds that are not glitched at all. While glitched builds can be absolutely stunning.

use "burning down the house" , it solves a lot of the issues with decorating, but doesnt change that furniture doesnt't match and you can't move ceiling lights in any way.

They should also let us remove the staircases in large and medium houses to get more space in one floor.
