Too strict in-game communication rules

It's not surprising people talk little in the game world (outside their groups) besides very basic and repeating messages (hi, gg, gratz, etc),

This is nonsense. I've made numerous friends in game just walking up and joining in on conversations I saw happening in cities or wherever.

People complaining about "omg you can't say anything!!1" always feign ignorance about what they said to get reported and the truth is always something obviously not okay.

It's like back in the day when people could appeal their Xbox Live bans on a forum like this one. Little Timmy would go on there and cry "I can't believe I got banned I didn't do anything wtf!!!" and then without fail mods would post the logs of Little Timmy's racist tirade or something equally vile.

The ToS is only a problem if you're a jerk. Don't be a jerk and you won't have a problem.

There's that problem especially profound with game forums - "mistake of survivor". People which agree that rules are indeed very strict are few and most won't even bother typing a single letter here, because they quit if they value human (like in human human sense) interection in mmo and games as a whole. And they know they won't change shit (sorry don't report me) nothing without power or masses of social media. Jesus, people start using words like "diplomatic approach" like it's not your fellow gammer you gonna play with, but a sultan of another country. All of this is toxic in its own rightful way.

That sort of respect should be shown to all human beings. Which is why leaders of countries show it to eachother. Our leaders lead by example, you could say.

Saying that citizens of countries should just be rude and obnoxious to eachother is ridiculous. Yes, it may be common that they are like this to eachother, but that does not mean Square Enix should allow such awful behaviour on their playground.

You are a guest in Square Enix's house. When you are a guest in anyone's house, you are polite and respectful. If you are not, you often get kicked out. No different here.

No, I am not. I am speaking from experience interacting with SE's GMs when I reported someone. They were extremely apologetic that they allowed this person to behave this way in their game. That tells me that they see it as their house and want everyone in it to behave respectfully.

And guests don't exactly pay for visiting.

You may believe that, because you pay, you suddenly have the right to be as rude as you like. That isn't how it works and a restaurant would kick you out if you were rude. In fact I did get kicked out once. I once told the cook in a restaurant that I thought they should improve their diet (I was genuinely concerned for them based on how they looked if you catch my drift). I got banned from there for life.

Oh I'm sure they do. But it says a lot about their mindset. It doesn't matter if that is the mindset of the GMs, or the people higher up the chain in Japan. It is what it tells me about how SE perceive's their role.
