    What's next for new jobs after Endwalker.

    I've been thinking quite a bit about this, and I feel that given we have only one scouting job and 3 casters (if you don't count blue mage for being a limited job), I'd say those are very good candidates. And that leads me to wonder about a few good ideas for it.

    For caster, I've been thinking of Geomancer. It would not only be an interesting new job mechanically, having to use neutral magics until it attunes through its own gauge with the environment (something like endwalker's summoner attuning to the eikon elements) and then it uses its attuned elemental to replace its previously neutral attacks. Not only it's a unique job, and has had an introduction before in astrologian's job quests for stormblood, but also, while red mage and black mage are the more hard cast focused casters, summoner is already a more instant cast based caster, and geomancer could be just so along with it due to the fact it's a melee magic potency user, with a few harder hitting skills using hard cast instead, just like summoner.

    As far as scouting goes, I think a job that uses whip would do very well, since it's the type of weapon you'd consider for a scouting job. I would even consider an adaptation of the Animist (temporarily borrowing powers from beasts, in line with something like reaper) or the Puppetmaster (a melee machinist) jobs.

    Edit:

    I really like TheWhiteRabbit's idea for a scouting job that's the opposite of red mage, doing melee with a whip and distancing themselves for ranged attacks during a second phase. I think this would fit Puppetmaster very well with sending Mammets as a resource spender and doing ranged whip attacks during second phase, while meleeing with the whip during first phase.

    Interesting new job?

    They can only do so much with job playstyles. Geomancer will definitely be just another stance dancer if they do add it. But they will slap a slightly different gauge management and the average fan will clap and praise how original and unique it is.

    That's a pretty jaded way of seeing it. :P I'm not saying it's wrong, but it's not so bad an idea to try and imagine new ways to apply similar mechanics. After all, there's got to be some type of balancing, but also some new flavors. It's why I pictured things the way I did.

    Its like the character creation: before adding some new races/jobs, maybe rework or fix the existing ones. At the moment, we dont need so much new stuff so badly. A nice and clean rework would be much better.

    I agree. I main DRK and maybe switch to GNB sometimes and speaking about tanks its kind of hard to think about a new tank job in this fantasy world. Tanks need a lot of work arm to make them more engaging and different from one another. I would also like to say, waiting 2 years at least to get major class or role changes is total BS. I would rather they stop for now with reaper and sage and double down on their current roster. If it means less frivolous patches I'm down with that since end game is when you really feel how bad/good your job feels and obvious issues need to be addressed in good time.

    Yup...I know you were. I also know how this place works! haha
    So, to go back to the main topic you tried to initiate: I think that we will get 2 Limited job patches in 6.X. Just like we did in 5.X. Which means: Beastmaster in 5.45.
    And I agree on the caster and scouting for 7.0. I am betting on time mage for the caster, as I can see it being an easy fit for a 'DoT' based DPS (which is a niche that will need to be filled for sure)
    Scouting is either going to be a job brand new to XIV (which I think could use some sort of whip indeed), or it could be the Mystic Knight some other suggested in many other threads.

    I think getting a handful of jobs reworked throughout the expansion is totally fine. (NIN, SMN and MNK all got reworked a bit in 5.X)
    It's not like any of the jobs are unplayable...

    personally i wish for something full nuclear, to see the role trinity be degraded entirely and to allow all jobs to have non strict rotations, party utility, and their own unique potentials, like FFXI in a fever dream. though, that's just a wild dream. (dancer should have gotten to be a true support in the llikes of its other appearances in FF though)
