What is the news on improving the search?

I don't remember reading anything about the search function improving, which to me is a huge deal. Being able to put up a flag to LFP would be great, but it doesn't HAVE to be like FFXI.

But it has to be said that the current party search is not working as it should, and the only way I find parties is to wander around camps and beg. I would like to be able to craft while I'm LFP, or gather with the LFP flag up, not have to be the one to start a party every time.

It's also nice to see how many people around the area are looking for a party.

Agreed.. This mechanic is broken and not used by the player base. And this is, as OP stated, a huge problem that should be quickly addressed.

That's what made me sad. In all the polls and letters, I don't remember even hearing about better search functions...yet it is soooo important. Why!?

No reason for them to fix it when they gonna have content finder in 2.0. Also the current one works just fine.
