    What if Relic weapons were a week by week quest instead of every 4-8 months?

    Just food for thought, instead of the relics being lackluster and basically useless by the time they release (With the exception of the expansions final patch relic being BiS), They grew in power week by week.

    Just a small quest chain every week, starting the same patch savage is released, incentivizing players to log in and play the game and take part in roulettes and activities throughout the entirety of the expansion instead of a single quest every 4 months.

    They would not be overpowered if they scaled correctly, increasing in item level every week until they reach the patch's current item level cap (Savage weapon ilvl) and stopping there until the next major patch release.

    This basically means that after 15 weeks, People who did not clear savage, or fell behind, static broke down or just don't care for raiding in general, will have access to a weapon on par with everyone else.

    This would even work for the Artifact weapons and armor you receive at the end of the expansions MSQ. An alternative upgraded gear set that evolves and grows with you as the expansion goes on, that is completely optional and provides the game with some much need 'mid patch' content to keep people playing.

    Missed a week? No problem! The questline for all previous weeks would not have a weekly limit on them, allowing you to just grind out all the previous week's progress in your own time without getting stuck behind everyone else.

    To avoid the problem that PirateRyan has laid out, why not make it a month-by-month basis instead? Make a smaller relic step every month that can completed as they are released, or all in a row if the player decides to take a break.

    Maybe every time we'd normally get a relic upgrade otherwise, we'd get a big upgrade that requires more effort than the smaller steps, but changes the appearance of the weapon and also gives a bigger boost in stats. Then every once so often between those bigger steps, we can upgrade or hone the weapon and give it smaller upgrades that don't change appearance (or maybe they make the special effect deeper or a different color idk). I think a system like that could work really well to keep people engaged, especially if it was tied to a specific piece of side content like Bozja/Eureka. It also would allow the devs to make longer grinds without alienating certain players as that long grind would be a lot more spaced out, rather than coming in 4-5 big bursts throughout the expansion.

    This is another reason to make it a month-by-month thing rather than something weekly. If someone were to be persistent in grinding their relics out, they would have plenty of time to do multiple relics between each monthly release.
