Do I dare tease yshtola while she is stepping on me? I think it would turn from a safe word to a "HARDER!"

For the Horde! I mean.... For Ul'dah!
It seems like there are at least two separate invitations from different groups – one choosing to contact the Students of Baldesion while the other is looking for Archons. There's some crossover there of course, with Raha being both an Archon and a member of the Students, but our apparent party including Krile, Erenville and Alphinaud suggests that we're not with the "Archon group" and probably working with the Students.
I think it's also possible that Estinien is there as an independent mercenary hired by a third party, similar to what he was doing during Stormblood when we crossed paths in the DRG questline.
then write a story that makes them retire. Are the Scion really done though?
like sure they have had multiple moments of character development but have they finished or found there purpose that gives them a reason to leave?
Yshtola clearly wants to go back to the first thats her goal but rest of the scions don't really have a Goal they are working towards that warrants them to leave at some point.
it doesn't matter if y'shtola's boy toy is in the new world and she hasn't seen him in forever, just write something that makes her only have a cameo or something
their character development is over and keeping them in the story is just bad writing at this point
whens the last time any of the scions, other than urianger, did anything interesting from a character development angle? like 5.0
and for that matter urianger's arc is also over now, his character development was great in 6.0 but now he can retire and we can get new character arcs.
again it's not about the scions, it's about character arcs.

we really don't need no Scions, the Warrior of Light did just fine in FFXI, when the WoL goes to Adoulin for the first time, we are met by Arciela, the main character of the Seekers of Adoulin expansion, Princess of Adoulin. She gives us the Lore of the land and the history of Adoulin. We didn't have the same people from the previous expansions around us all the time, sometimes they make a Cameo here and there, but nothing as bad as the scions.
If SE can do it for FFXI, why can't they do it for XIV storyline?

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
While i dont want them to "vanish" from the story 100% I think they need to take a step back, I want a new cast of characters who can get development, I feel like Endwalker was a good way to send off the scions.
Also a scion "dying" is usually some sort of fake out most of the time, which makes us have no real stakes with them anymore because you know they're always going to be fine, even if they happened to go off that way, no one would take it seriously at this point.
Personally I felt like a lot of the scions should have took a step back and played smaller roles in the story. But It looks like they're going to be a main part of it.
I'm happy with them being "always perfectly fine" but I do wish they wouldn't do regular fake death drama thingies with them. (The exception being Ultima Thule – I was fine with the way that was handled.)
Like, at this point if they hypothetically did want to kill off Y'shtola, they've ruined their ability to have anyone take it seriously because they already did a big tragic scene of her being apparently dead and friends starting to grieve... and then she came back five minutes later with minimal effort.
Injured? Fine. Temporarily in life-threatening danger? Also fine. But fake deaths can only be milked for drama in limited quantities and need to be used super sparingly, especially as the game goes on longer and longer with this permanent core cast.
Yes, they will probably never truly kill off the major Scions at this point, but I'm fine with them just carrying on as the main cast through every expansion while the more interesting plot things either happen to other people or build the Scions up as more complex people. They don't have to die to achieve that.
At first I want to voice my agreement, then somehow I get the feeling that it will be like a monkey's paw kinda thing.
Imagine if they really kill or retire some of the scions, only for us to ended up with ysthola, alisae, and graha for the rest of ffxiv life (since they're the most popular one). Yikes.
I think I prefer current situation than that. At the very least I still enjoy moments with thancred (and estinien sometimes).
