Do we really need the Scions again?

Are the Scion really done though?
like sure they have had multiple moments of character development but have they finished or found there purpose that gives them a reason to leave?
Yshtola clearly wants to go back to the first thats her goal but rest of the scions don't really have a Goal they are working towards that warrants them to leave at some point.

Do they have a reason to stay? The common goals that brought them all together were basically putting an end to the primal menace, and stopping Garlemald from conquering Eorzea. Both of those have been accomplished. Without having further goals, as you have pointed out, shouldn't they be off looking for something to pursue? Instead Y'shtola seems to be the only one that has any real long term personal objectives in mind. The Scions of the Seventh Dawn has completed its in-universe purpose. The writers are the ones that need to come up with a good answer for why they aren't going their separate ways now that they no longer share common cause.

I think the obvious response you're going to get here is "they're friends so of course they're going to stay in touch", and to that I'd ask why would it be required that every single one of them goes on this trip together if they don't have a shared reason to go. Surely at least one of them would have more important things to do, especially if this is going to be a low-stakes adventure at the beginning of 7.0.

it doesn't matter if y'shtola's boy toy is in the new world and she hasn't seen him in forever, just write something that makes her only have a cameo or something

their character development is over and keeping them in the story is just bad writing at this point

whens the last time any of the scions, other than urianger, did anything interesting from a character development angle? like 5.0

and for that matter urianger's arc is also over now, his character development was great in 6.0 but now he can retire and we can get new character arcs.

again it's not about the scions, it's about character arcs.

The twins are supposed to be helping with the reconstruction of Garlemald, which I guess they either just abandon or it will be quickly explained that they somehow managed to get them functioning as a self sufficient nation with a stable government and we just shouldn't care how that happened. I really am not sure what Urianger or Thancred would be pursuing since they have no character development independent of us. Really though they haven't given these characters any goals outside of what the plot demanded of them at the time, so they have nothing to do other than whatever we are doing.

And considering it seems these invitations may have been sent to the Archons, we may be the friend they're calling upon for assistance in this rather than us calling on them.

The overview about 7.0 did mention new Duty Support members so we'll see some new faces.

we really don't need no Scions, the Warrior of Light did just fine in FFXI, when the WoL goes to Adoulin for the first time, we are met by Arciela, the main character of the Seekers of Adoulin expansion, Princess of Adoulin. She gives us the Lore of the land and the history of Adoulin. We didn't have the same people from the previous expansions around us all the time, sometimes they make a Cameo here and there, but nothing as bad as the scions.





If SE can do it for FFXI, why can't they do it for XIV storyline?
