Do we really need the Scions again?

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the Scions coming along for a "fresh slate" expansion either. They need to not be in the MSQ just so we have enough room for new characters and new insights. One of the reasons why I really like the 3.0 MSQ was because the whole team wasn't there to baby and give us answers. Hell, the two Scions that were with us were even more helpless than us. We essentially had to rebuild our name in a land full of people who hates outsiders while the rest of Eorzea was hunting for us.

While I don't really expect that the New World will be as inhospitable as early Ishgard, I'd really prefer if this was a chance for the WoL to actually start anew just like 3.0. New people, new friends, new enemies, and new discoveries we find out ourselves, with only slight cameos every now and then from the Scions. Kinda like how Ash has new companions after every Pokemon region in the anime.

Are the Scion really done though?
like sure they have had multiple moments of character development but have they finished or found there purpose that gives them a reason to leave?
Yshtola clearly wants to go back to the first thats her goal but rest of the scions don't really have a Goal they are working towards that warrants them to leave at some point.

Do they have a reason to stay? The common goals that brought them all together were basically putting an end to the primal menace, and stopping Garlemald from conquering Eorzea. Both of those have been accomplished. Without having further goals, as you have pointed out, shouldn't they be off looking for something to pursue? Instead Y'shtola seems to be the only one that has any real long term personal objectives in mind. The Scions of the Seventh Dawn has completed its in-universe purpose. The writers are the ones that need to come up with a good answer for why they aren't going their separate ways now that they no longer share common cause.

I think the obvious response you're going to get here is "they're friends so of course they're going to stay in touch", and to that I'd ask why would it be required that every single one of them goes on this trip together if they don't have a shared reason to go. Surely at least one of them would have more important things to do, especially if this is going to be a low-stakes adventure at the beginning of 7.0.

The Scions at this point are our character's closest friends, who they call on in times of need. They're not going to vanish just because they've been around for a while.

Even if not working together directly, they have similar enough interests that they end up crossing paths anyway.

And considering it seems these invitations may have been sent to the Archons, we may be the friend they're calling upon for assistance in this rather than us calling on them.

The overview about 7.0 did mention new Duty Support members so we'll see some new faces.
