I don't understand why these shouldn't be stacked. Remove unique. Whether you gather them yourself or buy off the market board, why penalize you to keep going back and forth why treasure hunting doesn't make sense.

Not stacking prevents players from simply accumulating them without limit, which incentivizes many players to sell maps lest they entirely lose out on gaining value from their daily map gather. This likely makes maps more accessible to non-gatherers, as well as people who want to run multiple maps, as it not only means there will be more maps for sale, but also means that due to the quantity maps will be available at a lower price.
they want to limit it. that's why.
What it does is incentivize players to cheat the system by sending them to each other through mail or the FC chest, that's about it. If they want to limit how many maps you can have, at least let them stack and limit how many you can have in ANY inventory at a time. I would much rather they stack to say, 5 and I can have them all in one bag, than having to fish them out of the saddle bag and teleport back to grab two more from retainers every time my FC does weekly maps. Not stacking prevents players from simply accumulating them without limit, which incentivizes many players to sell maps lest they entirely lose out on gaining value from their daily map gather. I would posit that they probably don't see this as cheating the system, as they could pretty easily prevent this behavior if they wanted to.What it does is incentivize players to cheat the system by sending them to each other through mail or the FC chest, that's about it. And yeah, like so many other aspects of inventory management in FF14, it sure is clunky to deal with as a player!
The value from the daily map gather comes from the 18 hour CD before another map can be collected. Allowing players to stack the maps would increase their value as long as SE didn't remove the CD or otherwise make them easier to obtain. Not stacking prevents players from simply accumulating them without limit, which incentivizes many players to sell maps lest they entirely lose out on gaining value from their daily map gather. Non-gatherers already have the opportunity to get one map a week through Wondrous Tails.
I agree that allowing maps to stack to a small amount amount (3 - 5) wouldn't change things in any meaningful way other than being able to keep them in one spot instead of having to put one in the saddlebag, deciphering one and then having a third in character inventory. Definitely would be more convenient when trying to spawn Agrippa or especially Pale Rider.
