One of the most refreshing things introduced for Shadowbringers and Endwalker, I believe, was the bicolor gemstones, which made it much easier to get materials that are commonly 'hunted' for, instead giving another purpose for people to pursue fates and the like. It was a very refreshing way to keep crafting accessible and fun without a lot of the headache of having to hunt everything just for a chance to possibly get the drop you need.

The prior, expansions, however, are still very much in the headache camp. Heavensward, in particular, has a very, VERY extreme demand for hunted items, a single set of gear often demanding upward of 60 pieces of material that can have seeming maximum drop rate of 3 pieces, and that's if you get anything at all, which often times seems about a 25% chance. Don't quote my numbers on that, but that has been my experience.

In short, the only efficient way to even farm 'hunting' items for Heavensward and Stormblood is through retainers, but that still seems outdated with the introduction of bicolor gemstones. If this could be extended to those expansions, it would be a massive improvement to the crafter levelling experience.
