    You probably have an avoidance to things ending. You internally subconsciously find reasons to "lose interest" so you can keep the magic alive without ending the story.

    This. I have the same thing when it comes to games. I rarely complete games, no matter how close I am to the end. I guess because I like the excitement of potentially going back and playing more.
