I was having the same thing happen and it turned out I had a quarter inch of dust over my vents... vacuumed it out and it stopped happening.

I'm done putting my box on the floor too, it seems to get dusty way faster than on top of my desk.

This is very true, and it's something not many people consider. You may not realize it, but you kick up a LOT of dust while you're sitting at a desk. And especially when you're in a carpetted room, this can really do a number on your computer.

People who keep their computers on the floor also tend to want to tuck them away in places where they may not be able to draw in enough cool air.
