    I feel like this would be the opposite effect. Since the tanks in particular are so similar, they don't need to come up with an entirely new design to have a new class. Most of the abilities are already designed...they really just need to find those specific few to distinguish it and come up with a general theme for the rest in terms of name. Sounds simpler than having to design most of the abilities themselves from scratch (easier to balance the new class this way, too).

    That's a technical and very cynical view of how they add new jobs to the game.

    It's perfect.

    It also nicely fits how we got SGE, which is SCH without a Faerie (after SCH's Faeries have been all but gutted and turned into oGCD actions anyways), and even GNB. I'm tired of pretending its DPS rotation is somehow more involved than other tanks and that that somehow makes up for having the same boring mitigation tools.

    Yep. Finding SGE fun or different is 100% a self out for being a bad healer.

    People find it fun because you do not need to think at all to have full damage uptime. It has massive oGCD heal bloat. I'm going to put words in their mouths because there's absolutely no other way to interpret the fact that people like SGE (and jobs like SMN): they want to turn off their brains.

    SGE’s one saving grace is I am like 99.9% sure SGE was originally just a redesign of SCH to get rid of the clunk a lot of people don’t like on SCH

    So while SGE ended up as WHM but somehow even easier at least it sorta saved SCH from being destroyed again

    While there is only 3 pure phys ranged (4 if you count SMN) there is 11 pure damage dealers, sure they play differently but you can flex between them, healers have 1.5 job and tanks have 1

    It pretty much is, SGE’s skill ceiling is its floor, it is overflowing with a disgusting amount of free healing and the DPS healer mantra is just a slightly worse version of embrace

    Look at it this way. If Dawntrail is giving us 2 new DPS jobs then we'll probably get to see a flood of "DPS Queue too high" threads like we did back in Stormblood lol.
