Off topic or not, you couldn't have said it any better. Thank you for putting my concerns as a long time player into words.
Gotta cater to the normies, clubbers and second lifers now. "If you don't like the changes you were never a real fan and should just quit." Smh.

For those wondering, copy and paste the same link into your browser, but change langid=7 to langid=1 at the end.
Or navigate to my account/"mon compte" at the top of the page, then "mes options" in the bottom left, then scroll all the way down, make sure english is chosen in the last drop down, and hit "enregister".
How'd that even happen to you on accident? lol

IMO the only reason stuff like this happens is because people are too afraid of looking like a "bad guy" to put a boot up the arse of the guy on the left... >.>This meme is XIV right now for a lot of people.
People who never liked MMOs came in and acted like the person on the left, and now a bunch of us who have loved XIV for years have seen it altered in a such a massive way that it no longer resembles the game we loved. Everything has been watered down and made simpler and less fun for the sake of people who never liked the genre that XIV was and was supposed to be. Just look at the relics as an example. Relics are a standard MMO grind, but now they're a braindead tome vendor because grinding is too hard/boring for people who don't like MMOs. Those people insisted that an MMO should abandon the genre it was supposed to be in because people who don't like MMOs want this game to be something it's not. Bozja and Eureka were designed for people who love MMOs, the Manderville relics were designed for people who hate MMOs. There's also far less content per patch because people who don't like MMOs only want to log in once every four months.
And now that the veteran fanbase is upset with these changes, we're being told to just leave because the game 'was never for us anyways' by people who hate everything Final Fantasy XIV used to be.
EDIT: This is pretty off-topic for the thread, so I might go repost this as it's own thread.

I disagree...There is no issue giving an under represented culture a moment via high fantasy, but if you all remember the in game Native American headdress controversy, which actually did upset people of specific communities, this expansion has to tread carefully.
Again, I think it’s really cool that they are doing this, but one misstep, and the media will never let it down.
SE stereotyped their own japanese culture with Samurais, Ninjas and everything in Kugane.
SE stereotyped british knights and the house of commons and house of lords, which was protrayed as a positive change for Ishgard that solved all its problems, when it has not really solved these problems in britain ie. all the politicians are still the highborn and most prime ministers still went to mostly the same two schools and don't really connect with the public well, who have it in for them.
The point is, if they can stereotype their own culture, then why not everyone else's?
It felt like there were other cultures in FF16, particularly L'ubor and Dalimil. The tone of these characters is subject to interpretation considering how sunlight affects it.Especially after the comments about FFXVI being supposedly racist. Division III needs to be careful with racial comments, and how they represent cultures from now on.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

I cant be the only person who really wants all sorts of Latin American traditional clothing and period set pieces from Inca/Maya/Aztec empires.
I hope they closely resemble the stuff or at least get inspired heavily by it. Even if it stereotypes some stuff I will be absolutely okay with it. Latin America and its old world empires do not get a lot of representation in video games and this is a huge moment because of that.
I will enjoy it all and will personally not find anything offensive unless it's a flat out, overt, and literal (not perceived) insult to the cultures. Which I know for a fact they won't do.
Anyone crying about it is probably not from Latin America anyways or didn't grow up there because all the ones I know are pretty happy about this.
I AM Native American and yes I found the headress disrespectful. That said my reaction was to simply refuse to wear it even if it meant a lesser bit of gear. I have not earned the right (nor can I being female) to a headress. I personally will not cross that line. It's central and south. The architecture and cultures seem more like Inca (mostly South) and maybe a bit of Mayan/Aztec (Central). You're talking about Native American cultures but then seem not to know the differences between them. I don't mean to be hurtful or anything, but maybe you need to educate yourself a bit more on the distinctions between them before leading a conversation like this?
Who had problems with the headdress item? Where there any Tribal Governments (the official national governments of the various Native American tribes) that issued a complaint? What was their complaint? Do you have a link to their statements?
...or was it a lot of non-Native people virtue signaling using Native culture as a vehicle for their own virtue signals?
"can still offend" WHO? Actual Native peoples, or people looking to be offended? And I'm sorry, but that's life. You WILL be offended by things in life. There is no possible way to NOT offend someone, even by just going about your regular life. This goes back to what I said before, and what people had right a few decades ago (and in most of the non-Western world today) - If someone isn't intending to insult you, don't take offense. I genuinely do mean it, there is no way to NOT offend people. The accommodations you are talking about some people genuinely find offensive (I more find them dangerous/impossible/judgemental), so if they comport with what you ask, it will offend some people, too.
Life isn't about searching for offense. If you do that, you'll always be offended because life is full of things to be offended about if you WANT to be offended - and if you're seeking out offenses, you do.
Live is about realizing people aren't that bad, and most don't intend harm.
"Never assume malice when ignorance is a likely explanation. People are far more often stupid than they are evil." -Supposedly Gandhi, though I suspect it was someone else.
EDIT:
Did you read the actual comments?
Including the top comment on page 7 to which you linked?
There were people saying it was not something to be upset about, that there are different cultures that use such clothing, and even one NATIVE AMERICAN upset that people who WERE NOT NATIVE AMERICAN were trying to restrict the item and she was excited to be able to wear it and represent her culture in-game.
