Dawntrail: Hopes, expectations and disappointments.

Dawntrail: The start of a new adventure.

First Thoughts:
Setting seems nice, Getting more into the beast tribe lore and getting more in touch with the lesser known races of the game is always a good thing for world building.

Hopes:
1) Being the start of a new adventure, I am really hoping that the game tries something new with the standard 1 dungeon, 1 trial and MSQ patches. After 10 years it really is getting stale when you know exactly what is coming to the game 6-12-24 months from now.
More surprise trials like Memoria Miseria and some side raids would be nice, even if they are just normal mode difficulty.

2) More open world content, we are now on islands that would serve as a great hub for daily questing and exploration, it could even be the replacement for exploratory zones.

3) The two new jobs will not be copypasta of previous jobs. With Reaper/Sage being somewhat unique, i have high hopes that the new jobs will be good.

Expectations:
My main expectation is that this will not stay as a 'happy go lucky' expansion and things will take a turn at some point, possibly with an accidental death of one of the scions. After the high notes in SHB and EW, it feels weird going on a 'summer vacation' expansion.

Disappointments:
Really have nothing to say here so far, since we have no real information other than the basics, I would say not mentioning an Exploratory Zone was a bit of a disappointment, along with the fact that we are STILL travelling with the Scions after they *cough* "DISBANDED", but there is always JP fanfest for that.

Overall expansion looks good, graphical update looks amazing with the fine details.
Can't say anything truely negative other than the vibe being a bit off after everything we have been through.

Can't wait, will definatly be back for 7.0

I expected getting a few of them along the ride, but it's true having the whole cast there kinda threw me off. I really liked the idea of having a new cast with a different background that "Sharlayan Scholar that all share the same take on things". It made sense for ShB and EW to be them, but I would have loved a more diverse cast (in term of origin and takes on the world) like in HW or SB. It can still happen, but with all the scion already there, it's gonna be hard to get several new characters without them feeling overshadowed by the old characters.

They really let us think that disband thing was a declaration of intention for the cast, with a story explaination, and let that idea float, even build on it with that idea of the start of a whole new story. As someone who expected a lot from that paradigm, this killed my excitation during the trailer.

Seeing the rest of the reveal, I'm still curious, but I would have prefered they didn't play with that idea, or made them clear it wasn't their intention, because now I'm really disappointed.

I will agree, OOF, gotta wait till Summer 24 for 7.0
That is gonna be abit rough, but I want to hope that they have a plan for that lul. On the Flip side, It will give me Plenty of time to do content I havent done and may finally try in the downtime if Im not busy with work: Highend Raiding Prog & Ultimates.
And of course, shoot, not like this game is my life, I can play a few more games in my Backlog.

I'm curious to see the path where it takes with the whole Scions apparently being somewhat divisive now, and how consequential this may be. Granted, I don't expect it to be very severe, but having that individual independence between them would be nice, rather than the feeling that it's just them as a collective.

I don't expect much in the way of deviating from the usual path of when they do dungeons and their trials.

I would love to see the open world spiced up a little bit, or at the very least have the gemstones get expanded to the ARR-SB zones, so it is consistent across the entire game rather than just something going from ShB and beyond.

My only disappointment honestly is the absence of them announcing female Hrothgar. I'm still very excited though.

The environment updates coming with the graphical update have me the most excited. The forest actually looks like a forest now. The village they showed off actually looks like a village people live in with a number of buildings and tons of little details. It's not just three buildings and a barrel in a flat field. I can't wait to see how they spruce up the old areas!

My big hope is for 2), but I know we won't get it, so I'm already disappointed/disinterested.

For me i got 0 expectations for dawntrail
it's likely gonna be mostly under the hood tech and graphics update, with 1 or 2 days of msq tacked on soo people have something to do for a bit
But as for hopes
1) Maaybe a return of exploration zones for relics instead of the tome dump
2) hopefully the 7.x patches have more than 5 hours of msq LOL

I doubt that changes. That would rec recreate the slog that was 2.x msq that drove some new players away.

Hopes:
Since it's a new story, they make an entry point for new players
They add some lasting content or shake up the current monotony of endgame

Disappoints:
So far looks like more of the same. More ultimates for the hardcore raiders, more island sanctuary type of content for the casuals. Nothing for those that are in the middle.

I think it's weird to go on a Summer Vacation after literally handing us our own private Summer Island.

Also them disbanding the Scions they just never should have done.
