While I'd like to see it for those people that need it, it just might not be possible given how they would have to edit data from the servers, no?
If not, people will just have to make new characters *shrugs*

First of all, even with current server structure, some people changed names during the server transfer. Secondly, the game code and server structure are going down for 2.0 anyways.

Guys you haven't figured it out by now? Rina is doing this on purpose because Rina WANTS the name change! No doubt Rina wants to turn into a male character and what kind of male player wants the name Rina? Since He/She/It knows that Yoshi isn't 100% sure name change will be able to happen they're purposely challenging the idea, why? Because you draw more attention arguing about it instead of just giving the thread a +1 and saying "I think we should be allowed this one time chance to change our names" Rina don't stop what your doing, your bringing in supporters and we just might be able to convince the team to let us change our names. Yes, I see people reply, some of them reasonable, some of the totally funny and even moronic
What I fail to see is people do not want/refuse to take consequences of the option they take

Take example, XI vet. As far as I know, SE offer, and not forcing, them to take their XI identity.
Another example is character creation. Again, SE offer them a variety of option, I even can put a tiny mole under my right eyes! Some people take this seriously, even spent hours after hours for options, but some doesnt take it seriously and ended regret it. Heck, even I regret why didnt I perform character creation on my PC, on my on monitor, instead of doing it from office PC. But what the hell, what happen is happen
Another funny example is character ID. I've seen many Rina (and all of its variant) in my server. Should I change my name just because of that? Truly funny

Let me put it in a simpler way, this game... wouldnt be...if it werent for the true fans speaking
their mind of how crappy this game was at first release.

Player A: "OMG, those peoples are annoying! How dare they use the same name like me, Lina. I'm not hip anymore!"
Player B: "OMG, that male miqote looks cute. ME WANNA!!!'"
Player C: "Crap. This is bad. I accidentally kill my friend. I need to lay down. Oh, what to do, what to do. I know! I'll change my appearance and name. Now no one will catch me!"

All: "But I don't want to replay it all again!!!"

ps: I'm not against change. I'm against ridicoulous idea that will/potentially bring imbalance to either game mechanics, game experience and game lore. For those who said that I'm not role play enough, actually I role play enough. And right now, I'm role play as some adventurer in medievel setting, and to no friggin way access to some gender or even race change. Sure, I could dye my hair blond or black, but that? Totally not gonna happen in medieval setting

Why not gtfo and live and let live? Can't wait for pvp... too bad I'm not on Sargantas, since I know you'll be keeping the same name ^_^

The thread becomes a lot less annoying when you put inaray on your ignore list. If you get to reroll character you should get to reroll on your name.

A lot of people want to change their name, so I certainly hope they allow it.

One of my characters has a name that just doesn't suit her. I was a little unsure about it when I chose it in the first place but I couldn't think of anything better at the time. Unfortunately she's one of my favourite characters and she's too far along to remake her.
My other chars are fine, I'll be happy with them as they are for as long as I play the game... But I really would love the chance to change this one character's first name once, even though I won't be changing her race or gender.

Last I heard Yoshida-san understood that a lot of us want this, he's just looking into whether or not it's possible.
