In a world where food literally converts into aether for spellcasting, dieting must not be much of a thing.

They actually make a specific point in the aftermath of 5.3 that casting spells needs to be recharged by eating food (at least when you don't have a giant aether battery providing power instead).

We eat aether, like Zero did with the apple, and more. The problem of our sides is the "more".
If we were only aether, what the point of bury a corpse (why are there corpses)? Or why did the scions need their bodies back?
We have "a physical soul", this soul need aether and we are able to convert soul in magic, but the body need something else, for example archon bread XD

It's very likely going to be the same boring process.
You buy a full set of crafted gear off the mb.. Then, you do your weeklies for tome gear and log off.
Raids get released, you continue to do your weeklies but now you start progging savage and that will be the only thing you log in for from now on.
If you complain about it, the turbocasuals will say that something's wrong with you instead of with the game because they LOVE doing super niche content that doesn't appeal to the vast majority of players and lack perspective of any kind because this is the only game they have ever played.
Then, you quit to play games that actually provide you with long term progression while you're waiting for a new patch to drop, in hopes of there being anything interesting.

Oh, wait.. You meant how the power scaling makes any logical sense?
Yeah i don't know. Neither do the designers probably. Magic i guess.

I've posted this before, but since it's relevant to this thread:

Is the Warrior of Light really as OP as some like to tihnk?

A snapshot of how our major fights played out:
Zenos (EW): The residual dynamis from the Scions helped us through this fight
Hades/Emet-Selch: This took a team of Warriors of Light, the Scions, Auracite, and our character fused with Ardbert
Nidhogg: We had a power-up in the form of Hraesvelgr's eye
Ultima Weapon Hyadaelyn's protection saved us

But alone, without any form of assistance/magic etc? Well, there is, obviously, Zenos - and he kicked our arse twice. Ran'jit beat us when we fought him the first time too.

I could continue, but I won't - the point is that 'we' have almost never fought a major battle solo/without some form of assistance and the major victories all involved assistance or powerups.
Heck, Endsinger even touched on this after we sent the Scions away to save them - "bereft of the synergy you claims is your strength".

WoL's power scales with his level and his gear. Fighting opponents that beyond his level results in him losing.

In SB, Zenos is pretty much lv70, while WoL encountered him around lv61. Lv61 got wrecked by lv70, nuff said. Next attempt around lv65 also failed because of level difference. Only at lv70 when WoL got his new shiny AF gear, he stood a chance, but still needed 3 NPCs/players to support him. At 6.5 when refighting with fake Zenos, WoL has end-expension lv70 tome gear, and just soloed him.

In ShB, take a look at the trailer. WoL changed between many jobs fighting a Sin-eater, but got overwhelmed until changing into Dark Knight. Why? Because of gear. Assuming WoL was lv80 and the sin-eater was also lv80, then WoL basically undergeared during the fight, because he used his AF gear in lv50/60/70 to fight a lv80 enemy. Only when he changed to Dark Knight with glorious lv80 AF gear, he managed to triumph.

Non-interchangable types of aether, apparently? Permanent corporeal aether and then "fuel aether" to power it and keep it alive?

We can only go on what the game tells us, and that is that both Krile and G'raha talk about feeling drained and hungry after spellcasting, and then we have Zero demonstrating that there's essentially no practical difference between direct-absorbing aether from a food object and eating it, besides that you get to enjoy the taste of it.

Aside from being sundered, Zodiark was being controlled by Fandaniel, whose entire goal was to get Zodiark destroyed to restart the Final Days, so he wasn't exactly going all out.

Eh, true enough. I do subscribe to the school of thought that WoL basically isnt quite as strong as people tout ingame, but is just too central to many events to not be seen as such, but I do think that Zodiark/Hydaelyn are outliers in that regard.
