    The Forlorn

The Forlorn has too much HP. That is all.

It's HP is basically the amount of a full boss FATE and scaled for like 4 people at least, so if it shows up during your FATE good luck killing it alone if the other players ignore it, don't see it or are bots programed to ignore it.

It triples the amount of exp received by the next fate so it's like doing 3 fates for the exp of 4 (fate where The Forlorn appeared, The Forlorn itself, and the next Fate to actually cash out), compared to Forlorn Maidens which have the HP of regular enemies and bump up the next fate by 1.5 exp (2 fates for 2.5x exp).

Because neither affect achievement progress nor bicolor gemstone/company seals, they split incentives for the players doing FATEs in a zone sometimes making them at odds.

A fix would be to apply the Forlorn buff to the current Fate, bicolor gemstones, Seals and achievement progress, and to dramatically lower the HP of The Forlorn.

If their reward is not adjusted to compensate for the fact that all players in a Fate have to stop attacking e.g. a FATE boss to kill The Forlorn, it will often result in A) players that don't need exp feeling like their wasting time fighting them for those that do, B) players that need exp feeling like their leveling method is being pressured by players that don't even have much of a reason to be there (exacerbated by those able to fly in zones where at-level players often cannot yet), or C) situations in which the greater presence of actions that hit multiple enemies that are part of a job's single target combos end up finishing the FATE before the Forlorn is defeated, despite player efforts (e.g. New SMN is a major offender in this regard).

this is a really old post i know but as i've been farming fates lately for one of the mounts i've been in at least 3-4 fates where people either didn't know what the big forlorns were or didn't care and burned the mobs anyway. wholly agree they need to have a lot less HP, or at the very least make it so the fate can't be completed until the forlorn dies. it's such a bummer to lose out on all those gems and xp.
